Proctor filly has look of a runner
DEL MAR, Calif. – Tom Proctor sent out Summering for an impressive debut win in a one-mile maiden race for 2-year-old fillies July 29, and he looks to have another live runner in race 5 on Friday in the filly Ask the Customer, who was second sprinting at Laurel in her debut and now gets to go one mile on turf in start No. 2.
As with Summering, Ask the Customer will be ridden by Drayden Van Dyke.
Her rivals include Barbadolla, who raced inside sprinting in her debut at Del Mar on a day when that was not ideal, and a pair of first-time starters trained by Michael McCarthy – Noble Contessa and Imperial Creed.
Noble Contessa, by Noble Mission, “is bred for the grass,” McCarthy said, and Imperial Creed is by Jimmy Creed, “and his offspring seem to like the turf,” McCarthy said.
