Private Prospect triumphs in Juvenile Mile

ALTOONA, Iowa – Private Prospect parlayed his success in the Prairie Gold Juvenile into a neck triumph in Saturday's $100,000 Prairie Juvenile Mile.
Returning from his Arlington Park base for trainer Michael Campbell, Private Prospect ($12.40) took over leaving the far turn and, under the guidance of jockey Alex Birzer, held Lucky Player safe in the field of six. Lucky Player finished 1 1/4 lengths clear of the 7-10 favorite Recount.
Private Prospect, who has earned $105,000 here since being claimed by Campbell and Mellon Patch Inc. for $50,000, covered the mile in 1:38.77. The Discreet Cat colt collected $60,000 on this occasion.
Leading jockey David Mello earned his 100th win of the now-concluded Thoroughbred meet when won Magnet Cove won a two-mile claiming race earlier on the Saturday night card.
