Princess Kokachin puts a five-race win streak on the line Sunday at Laurel Park when she faces open stakes company for the first time in the Willa On the Move, a six-furlong stakes for fillies and mares. The Willa on the Move also features Hello Beautiful, a winner in 10 of 19 starts and the horse to beat. The Willa On the Move is one of six $100,000 stakes on Laurel’s Boxing Day program. Princess Kokachin upset Hello Beautiful last month in the restricted Politely Stakes. The Politely was roughly run, and rail-drawn Hello Beautiful, denied the lead by Princess Kokachin, raced in tight along the inside before fading to last. Princess Kokachin breaks from post 3 on Sunday with Hello Beautiful in post 5. “Hello Beautiful had been winning on the lead all by herself with nobody putting pressure on her,” said Princess Kokachin’s trainer, John Robb. “That filly didn’t like being outrun and she didn’t like being inside so it might be a different story now.” Robb was straightforward about race tactics: “We’re going to ride her the same way we won five in a row.” :: Bet the races with confidence on DRF Bets. She’ll break from post 2 following a gate-to-wire victory in an off-the-turf allowance on Nov. 5. “It was exactly what we were looking for to build her confidence,” said trainer Lacey Gaudet. Jakarta, Miss Mosaic, and Kaylasaurus were cross entered in the Mrs. Claus at Parx on Tuesday. Trainer Kelly Breen reported Wednesday morning that Call On Mischief will scratch from the Willa On the Move. She has been retired and will be bred to Charlatan in 2022. Robert T. Manfuso The top three finishers from last month’s Richard W. Small square off in the Robert T. Manfuso for 3-year-olds and upward at 1 1/16 miles. Cordmaker, who won the Small by 1 3/4 lengths over pacesetting Workin On a Dream, was bred in partnership by Robert Manfuso, a longtime owner and breeder and former owner of both Laurel and Pimlico. Manfuso died in 2020. Cordmaker has won 11 of 33 starts. He breaks from the rail with tactical speed as he seeks his eighth stakes victory. Workin On a Dream earned a career-best 93 Beyer Speed Figure in the Small. He starts from a difficult outside post with a short run to the first turn. Shackqueenking, beaten 3 3/4 lengths by Cordmaker as the Small favorite, might appreciate cutting back a half-furlong. Everett’s Song is cross entered at Parx on Tuesday. Doubleoseven, Bobby G, McElmore Avenue, Alwaysmining, and Plot the Dots complete the field. Dave’s Friend Owner-trainer Jose Corrales calls Air Token “a gift from God.” Claimed for $10,000 last year, Air Token might provide Corrales with a belated Christmas present in the Dave’s Friend for 3-year-olds and upward at six furlongs. Air Token won the Maryland Million Sprint on Oct. 23, then finished third, beaten a neck, behind Whereshetoldmetogo and Youngest of Five in the Howard and Sondra Bender Memorial on Nov. 26. Whereshetoldmetogo has compiled a record of 11-6-1-1 since being transferred to Brittany Russell’s barn. He made an eye-catching four-wide move in the Bender. Youngest of Five has hit the board in six of his last seven. He set a rated pace in the Bender only to falter late. Eight-year-old Laki runs well fresh and returns from a 98-day layoff after chasing tougher in the Grade 3 De Francis Memorial Dash. Karan’s Notion, Newbomb, Threes Over Deuces, and Penguin Power also compete. Carousel Corrales sends Belle of the North as a contender in the Carousel at 1 1/8 miles for fillies and mares. Belle of the North recently won the seven-furlong Safely Kept but has the pedigree for longer distances. Her dam is a half-sister to Zenyatta. “This horse was a slow-developing sort,” said Corrales. “She worked fast but was slow out of the gate, so I had to take my time.” Miss Leslie is a three-time stakes-winner around two turns and recent winner of the Thirty Eight Go Go. Smooth With a Kick returns from a lengthy layoff and switches to the Russell barn. Lookin Dynamic and Villanelle, the two-three finishers in the Thirty Eight Go Go, start for Michael Trombetta along with stablemate Kiss the Girl. Artful Splatter and Scatrattleandroll also start. :: Get Daily Racing Form Past Performances – the exclusive home of Beyer Speed Figures.  Heft “I don’t think I would trade places with anyone,” trainer Robert Klesaris said about Life Is Great, one of the favorites in the Heft, a seven-furlong stakes for for 2-year-olds. In his first four starts, Life Is Great butted heads with future graded winners High Oak, Slipstream, and Mo Donegal. Last time, he won a maiden special weight at Aqueduct by 6 3/4 lengths with an 82 Beyer. “No disrespect to who I’m running against, but this race is easier than any of his maiden races,” said Klesaris. Last Romance, a rallying second in an allowance at Delaware on Oct. 27, might provide the strongest competition for Life Is Great. Gin Talking Buy the Best, a winner of three straight including the Smart Halo on Nov. 13, figures a short-priced favorite in the Gin Talking for juvenile fillies at seven furlongs. ◗ The 2021 Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Championships (MATCH) Series will conclude on Sunday’s program. Cordmaker leads Hello Beautiful in the overall point standings.
