Presque Isle: Hollywood Hit rallies to win Karl Boyes Memorial

Trainer Anita Bolton was confident the 5-year-old Hollywood Hit could come from off the pace, and she proved correct Wednesday evening at Presque Isle Downs.

Hollywood Hit was kept just off very quick fractions in the $100,000 Karl Boyes Memorial by jockey James McAleny. When McAleny shook the reins at Hollywood Hit in upper stretch of the 5 1/2-furlong race, the gelding answered and drew clear by two lengths. He was kept to task late and prevailed by 2 1/2 lengths.

Chief of Affairs, under Miguel Mena, could not get to the winner in the stretch and finished second, 1 1/4 lenghts in front of Ravalo in third.

Hollywood Hit ran the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1.02.98 over the Presque Isle Tapeta surface and returned $5.80 as the second choice in the field of six older horses.
