John McDulin|Sep 26, 2013
Awesome Flower, HBPA Stakes
Coady Photography Awesome Flower wins the HBPA Stakes under jockey Alan Garcia.

Awesome Flower, under Alan Garcia, came from midpack to win the $100,000 HBPA on Thursday evening, the closing card of the Presque Isle Downs meet.

Trained by Mike Maker for Ken and Sarah Ramsey, Awesome Flower bided her time on the outside in fifth early. As the front-runners began to drop out of it in the stretch, the 4-year-old filly began to pick up horses and won by 3 1/2 lengths. Primed For Passion under Mario Pino was second, a nose in front of Unavailable in third.

The running time for the mile and 70 yards over the Tapeta surface was 1.40.82. Awesome Flower returned $7 to win.

Dixon Memorial: Jose Sea View wire to wire

Jose Sea View led from start to finish to win the final stakes of the 100-day meet, the $100,000 Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial.

Jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson made every pole a winning one as she cruised to a length and a quarter victory. Ready For Action was second, 1 3/4 lengths in front of Brays Secret in third.

Jose Sea View returned $3.40 to win as the favorite and ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1.16.79 over the Tapeta surface.
