Premier Ethics puts unbeaten streak on line in Sunshine State Derby
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
Premier Ethics, a filly who is unbeaten in three starts, is the leading contender in the richest of four stakes on Saturday’s nine-race Quarter Horse card at Hialeah Park.
Trained by Rogelio Martinez, Premier Ethics will break from the far outside in post 10 under Jose Ruiz in the $61,050 Sunshine State Derby, a 400-yard race restricted to Florida-bred 3-year-olds.
Premier Ethics will be making her stakes debut after setting the fastest qualifying time of 19.70 seconds on Feb. 7.
Trainer Judd Kearl, who has saddled five stakes winners already at the meet that ends Monday, has three uncoupled entrants in the race, including Jlcjazzlibro and Easily Bono, who finished a neck apart as the third- and fourth-place finishers in the same heat as Premier Ethics.
Wrs Quick Regards, whose 4 wins and 3 seconds in 10 career starts include a win in last summer’s Heartland Futurity at Indiana Grand and a runner-up in the El Nino at Hialeah on Jan. 17, is the horse to beat in the $30,000 South Florida Quarter Horse Stakes at 440 yards.
