Prairie Meadows: Maya's Storm tough off last

Ken Miller|May 24, 2008

Maya's Storm, fresh off a convincing three-length win in the Golden Circle, appears to tower over his five rivals in the $55,000 Gray's Lake for 3-year-old Iowa-breds at Prairie Meadows.

Maya's Storm, who has never been beaten by statebreds, will be reunited with jockey Richard Monterrey, who rode him in all of his starts last year. Maya's Storm, who will break from the rail in the six-furlong Gray's Lake, is coupled in the wagering with Hesablumin, with Monterrey also named to ride.

It would appear that the remainder of the field is running for second. Sharkiowa has begun his campaign by winning three times, including back-to-back scores in statebred allowance company. Terry Thompson, who has been in the irons for all of the gelding's wins, will once again be aboard.
