Post Facto brings in unique win streak
?q=100)
Post Facto will bring a somewhat unconventional win streak into Sunday’s seventh race at Gulfstream Park.
The 4-year-old gelding is looking to win his fourth consecutive race – for his fourth consecutive trainer – in the $12,500 starter allowance over 1 1/16 miles on Tapeta.
Post Facto has been claimed in each of his last three starts. He began his win streak last August at Del Mar, when he won a mile dirt race and was claimed for $25,000.
For his new connections, Post Facto won first off the claim, taking a mile turf race at Del Mar a few weeks later. He was claimed out of that race for $40,000.
Post Facto did not race again until this summer, winning a two-turn race on Tapeta in July at Gulfstream. He was claimed for $12,500 from the race, and on Sunday moves into the starter-allowance ranks for new connections Lima Horse Racing and trainer Pablo Torres.

Post Facto will break from the rail, and in his last start, he wired his rivals after starting from fence. Miguel Vasquez has the mount on the horse, who also has had success stalking the pace while he’s built a career record of 5 for 11.
The competition will be keen Sunday as Fly the W, who has been the gold standard among starter horses this meet, seeks to win his fifth straight race. He hit a milestone of 20 career wins last out, when winning on the turf at Gulfstream. He’s a 14-time winner on the local Tapeta.
Edgard Zayas has the mount for trainer Bobby Dibona.
K. C. Chief is seeking his fourth straight win, in a streak that began in April and has been built exclusively over the local synthetic track. Edgar Perez has the mount for trainer Jose D’Angelo.
The third race Sunday is a first-level allowance for fillies and mares bred in Florida. It will be run over one mile and 70 yards on Tapeta.
Pacific Princess brings the best collection of recent Beyer Speed Figures into the race, with her last three numbers a 71, 72, and 68. She’s a winner over the local Tapeta and, as an eight-time career winner, has a significant experience edge on her rivals. Miguel Vasquez has the mount for owner and trainer Roger Laurin.
Pacific Princess has tactical speed and could get a nice trip just off Gratia, who is stretching back out around two turns after a sprint start, and Brown Eyed Beauty, who also goes sprint to route. Union Harmony is another moving to two turns.
Confer gives up recency to some of these, as she last raced June 21, but has run some races that would put her right in the mix Sunday. She also can take advantage if the pace gets too hot up front. Leonel Reyes has the mount for trainer Laura Cazares.
Another player is Sprezzatura, who was fourth at this level last out at Gulfstream. Luca Panici has the mount for trainer Heather Smullen.
