Pollard’s Vision to Waldorf Farm in New York

Glenye Cain Oakford|Feb 28, 2013

Pollard’s Vision, the sire of 2010’s champion 3-year-old filly and $3 million earner Blind Luck, will relocate from Wintergreen Farm in Kentucky to Waldorf Farm in North Chatham, N.Y.

He will stand for $5,000 this year as the property of a syndicate. Pollard’s Vision also will continue his shuttle duties to La Mission in Argentina, where his book has averaged 130 mares during the last three Southern Hemisphere breeding seasons.

Pollard’s Vision, a 12-year-old Carson City horse out of the Dixieland Band mare Etats Unis, won six of 23 starts during three seasons, including four graded stakes, and earned more than $1.4 million. He got Blind Luck in his first crop, among a group of runners that made Pollard’s Vision North America’s third-ranked freshman sire in 2009 and third-ranked second-crop sire the following year.

His 12 black-type winners also include Il Villano, who most recently ran second in Laurel Park’s Grade 3 General George Handicap on Feb. 18, and 2012 stakes-winners Closing Vision, Hes Not You, and Visionary Ruler, among other stakes performers.

“He is by Carson City, just like the hugely successful formerly New York-based sire City Zip,” said Waldorf owner Dr. Jerry Bilinski. “It is a line that really works well here.”

Bilinski noted that Pollard’s Vision’s 2010 book included 165 mares whose foals will arrive at the races in 2013. He will join Bustin Stones and Breathless Affair on Waldorf’s 2013 roster.

Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated a racing accomplishment of one of Pollard's Vision's offspring, Il Villano. He was second in this year’s General George Handicap at Laurel, not the winner.
