Lauren King Poiema wins the Stormy Embrace at Gulfstream Park on Sunday.
Poiema dominated the $60,000 Stormy Embrace on Sunday at Gulfstream Park when she jumped out to the lead at the start and increased her advantage throughout for a 5 1/2-length victory over She’s Outta Here.
It was another half-length back in third to Sophia’s Storm.
The overnight handicap was for fillies and mares over 6 1/2 furlongs.
Poiema ($3) ran the opening quarter in 23.19 seconds and a half-mile in 46.30 before going on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:18.09.
Edgar Perez was aboard for owner and trainer Joseph Cantanese III.
