Pocono: Treviso, Overdraft Volo stay undefeated in 2017

A pair of $72,328 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes divisions for 3-year-old trotting fillies were the marquee events on Sunday night's card at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, and Treviso and Overdraft Volo would score victories.

Treviso (Charlie Norris) would lead on the outside at the 27 1/5 opening quarter in the first split, but she would give way to 3-5 favorite Thats All Moni (Tim Tetrick) on the way to the 56 second half. Thats All Moni continued to have command at the 1:24 3/5 three-quarters and to the top of the stretch, but at that point Norris pointed Treviso into the passing lane. Once she had clear racetrack to work with, Treviso exploded past Thats All Moni and continued to pour it on from there, winning by 3 3/4 lengths in 1:54 2/5. Thats All Moni just held second over Caviart Wonder (Andrew McCarthy), who had a first-over trip in the back-half of the mile.

Norris also trains and Klis Brothers Stable and Carrie Norris own Treviso, a filly by Muscle Massive. Treviso is undefeated in 2017, having won all four of her starts, and this was her ninth career victory. Treviso, who has put away $240,896, returned $5.60 to win after being sent off as the 9-5 second choice.

The other section saw Fine Tuned Lady (Corey Callahan) put the 27 2/5 first quarter on the board before she was leap-frogged by pocket-sitter Cool Cates (McCarthy) before the 57 1/5 half. 9-5 choice Overdraft Volo (Andy Miller) had come first-over out of fifth before the half, and she would advance steadily in the third quarter, getting to within three-parts of a length of the lead at the 1:25 three-quarters. Overdraft Volo and Cool Cates would continue to battle side-by-side in to the lane, but Overdraft Volo took over halfway through the stretch drive, then held off a late bid of passing lane-attacking Fine Tuned Lady to score by half a length in 1:54 3/5. Broadway Idole (David Miller) was up for third.

Overdraft Volo, a daughter of Yankee Glide, is trained by Julie Miller for owners Pinske Stables and Kentuckiana Racing Stable. Overdraft Volo, who is now two-for-two in her sophomore campaign, is a five-time winner in her career and she has banked $202,340. She paid $5.80 to win.
