Pocono: Horses to watch from September 29 - October 2

Ken Walters|Oct 03, 2018

Saturday, September 29

SPORTY MERCEDES (CLM11000) was out a long way, challenged the pace to the third panel and tired. A better trip can get this one home.

BROADWAY PROMISE (NW14000) closed a ton from the back of the pack and just missed.

NORTHERN ASSASSIN A (CLMHCP10/12500) came uncovered, challenged the odds-on pacesetter and never went way while proving second best at 13-1.

AWESOMENESS (NW9000) closed with some good pace through the lane and will be heard from soon.

Sunday, September 30)

THEREISAPACEFORUS (NW7000) quick closing 15-1 shot finished with a full head of steam from a distant third over as the horse in front of him quit in the final turn.

DONT THINK TWICE A (NW225000M) saved to the lane, slipped out, found room and finished with wicked pace to just miss.

NO ORDINARY MAN (NW1) tucked early, pulled to the third panel, came uncovered, chased the odds-on pacesetting favorite to the last step and came up a head short in the photo.

SANDYS BEACH (W4-6FM) finished best from 4th over in latest and earns a long look next race or two.

Monday, October 1

BAG PIPE MAJOR (NW5) slipped out second over behind tiring cover, cleared wide, closed well but too late.

RECORD MACHINE (NW5) tucked, got shuffled, rallied well inside and earns a look in next.

PHANTOM RUSTY (NW6000) tucked twice along the way and chased the winner home second best.

GUSTAVO FRING (NW3000) rallied late and should not be overlooked in next race or two.

Tuesday, October 2

TERROR TIME A (CLM7500) beaten favorite closed late from third over as the skies burst and should not be ignored in next.

COVERT OPERATIVE (NW9600) took a tuck, pulled uncovered, challenged but weakened and finished second in the rain.
