Pocono: Horses to watch from September 1 - September 4
Saturday, September 1
OUTSIDER (CLM10000) pulled to the half, tucked the pocket into the final turn, rallied gamely but just missed.
FEELING CAM LUCKY (NW12000) tucked early, pulled to the third panel and was a strong winner.
DRUNKEN TERROR (CLMHCP125/15000) was too long wide, rallied gamely but just missed. Beaten favorite will atone.
BIG N BAD (CLMHCP30/40000) left, tucked, got stuck behind dead ones, rallied gamely inside to get up for second over the well bet second favorite but the favorite was long gone.
Sunday, September 2
CHAS HANOVER (NW6) came wide around a stalled horse, cleared uncovered, chased a tough pacesetter and tired a bit at 21-1.
BARN BELLA (NW24000) carried a bit wide in the outer flow heading home, rallied strongly and just missed once set straight.
DEEP IMPACT (NW24000) challenged uncovered, flattened a bit heading home but got in gear again and closed gamely.
DAYSON (NW175000) was a strong down the road winner in last and can take another.
Monday, September 3
ANNIE HALL (NW2FM) closed strong to win going away and will win a few more here and there.
PSYCHO CINDY (NW2FM) was parked early, rushed up uncovered, challenged a long way at 62-1 and tired. A better trip might be all it takes.
BOXING GLOVES (NW2) well-bet second choice chase the pacesetting favorite uncovered but was second best.
SMART AS A WHIP (NW3000) left to quick lead, set the pace under constan pressue and held game but tired.
Tuesday, September 4
MIXED METAPHOR (NW4) tucked, sat pocket at 38-1 to the pacesetting odds-on favorite but was only good enough to top off the exacta...maybe next time.
MY SISTER LUCIE (NW3100M) finished well from third over gaining good ground late.
CARLY GIRL (NW4FM) followed the wide flow in the final turn and finished with pace from an impossible spot.
SEISMIC WAVE (NW4)finished with good trot as the top two got away and passed everybody else.
