Pocono: Horses to watch from Sept. 6 - Sept. 9

Ken Walters|Sep 12, 2025

Saturday, September 6

THE BOSS SAID (CMHCP20/25000) beaten favorite cleared between horses just a step or two late, closed well but was third in the photo. Do not overlook in next as he seeks to atone.

TWIN B THRILLER (NW2/2YO) went down the road and was all out to take home 4th win in a row.

SOUTHWIN CELSIUS (NW9500) challenged the odds-on winner but was held at bay as the third favorite on the board. Deserves a long look in next.

HAMMERING HANK (CLMHCP30/40000) was second over the final turn and just missed.

RIO (W5-8) was used hard in front end try. Parked wide to the lead, pressed hard by determined foe, gutted out second losing to the tripped-out prohibitive favorite and would be no surprise.

Monday, September 8

MESSENGER HANOVER (STALLION) left, tucked, got shuffled, finished well inside to be second best at 33-1 to the pacesetting favorite in the Final.

JOYFUL HANOVER (STALLION) closed well from third over in the 2YO F Final and should catch a win soon.

PRINCESS JACKIE (STALLION) left, settled on a tuck nearing the quarter, sat in, finished well inside to be second best to the favorite in the 3YO F Final.

MCHUNGRY (STALLION) left, took back and tucked from 3-wide, rallied late up the rail to nail second to the pacesetting favorite in the 2YO Final. Seems like a trend of late rallies up the rail to be second best.

Tuesday, September 9

GET WINGS (NW2) got 'em, went to the lead, set a speedy clip and was much the best.

BEACH TOWN BOY (NW1550) went to the lead, drew off easily in the lane. Can beat better and should be the one in next.

KINGPIN HANOVER (NW3500) raced uncovered, rallied all out and gained late in good effort.

IM COOKIN (NW1FM) made a three move effort but tired enough to be outkicked. Beaten favorite can come back to win with better racing luck.

ENCRYPTION (NW1) sat buried to the lane, had an open lane and charged home to just miss.

MODESTY BLAISE (NW2/2YOF) was a well-bet second choice but the Oscar went to the pocket sitting favorite who nailed her on the wire. She will score soon.
