Pocono: Horses to watch from Sept. 30 - Oct. 4

Ken Walters|Oct 06, 2023

Saturday, September 30

MAX (NW17500) was stuck behind a weak foe the final turn, rallied through traffic and bears watching.

SAN DOMINO A (NW12500) beaten favorite was parked the mile, challenged to the last steps.

IMAGINARY LINE (NW12500) tucked early, got shuffled, pulled the three-hole the final turn and was second best with good finish.

IMSTAYNALIVE (NW9500) saved to the lane, flashed some good late pace and should not be ignored.

POUND FOR POUND (CLMHCP20/25000) was a handy unthreatened wire to wire winner in latest.

Monday, October 2

CODY HANOVER (NW4400) tucked, brushed and wired the field in handy fashion. Will be very hard to beat in next.

SOME KINDA ANGEL (NW4600FM) showed some good late speed from second over to be second best to the prohibitive pacesetting favorite on a night when speed ruled.

QUARREL (NW6400M) beaten favorite came up bit short in second-over journey but can atone in next.

ITTY BITTY (NW3000M) pulled pocket to the third panel, took the top and drew off. Will be stepping up in next but should not be overlooked.

Tuesday, October 3

CERULEAN HANOVER (W4-6) left to the top, yielded and was shuffled, tried to rally inside but was in traffic and had to take up.

CAPTAIN COOK (CLM10000) was third over in a weak outer flow, rallied wide and closed with pace.

MISTER DAYTONA N (CLM7500) tucked, got shuffled, rallied late between horses. Beaten favorite could get luckier in next.

GATSBY (NW2) sat in, had tight quarters in the stretch and seemed like he had more to give.

NICE STUFF (CLMHCP25/30000) on a day when speed ruled this fast-closing winner came from far back to nail it in the last strides.

Wednesday, October 4

CATCHME IF LOU CAN (NW1500) brushed around stalled horses, rallied in the final turn, closed full of pace but had too much ground to cover and was second on the wire.

CADILLAC MOON (NW2) took the lead at the quarter, put away the field to score second win in a row.

ARGENTO (NW4400) was parked the mile, grinded steadily, held gamely to earn 4th place and should not be ignored.

MET YOUR REQUEST (NW7000) was parked and found a tuck passing the quarter, sat in to the lane, tipped and finished with a late rush and ran out of track to just miss.
