Pocono: Horses to watch from Sept. 23 - Sept. 27
Saturday, September 23
SOUTHWIND GENTRY (NW75000) in first start off a layoff, he began a rally into the final turn and closed with good pace to earn second place. Should be tighter and move sooner in next.
PANETTONE HANOVER (NW6400) rallied strong the final turn and won going away. A repeat seems like a serious possibility.
CODY HANOVER (NW4400) had poor cover, rallied wide and had aim heading home but flattened a bit to be second best in quick mile. Beaten favorite would be no surprise in next.
MODERN ROCK (CLMHCP30/40000) rallied long wide from 4th over the final turn but flattened out in the lane. A better-timed move might get it done.
LUCKY WEEKEND (NW6400) was parked the mile, challenged the last quarter, tired but stayed around to the last steps.
Monday, September 25
ITS SATURDAY NIGHT (NW1) tipped in the final turn second over and finished with pace to just miss.
CADILLAC MOON (NW1) crushed foes in wire to wire romp and should give it another try.
HAND DOVER DAN (NW2800) had the pocket but broke, took back, rallied strong and was third at the end in impressive comeback. Will get it done in next race or two.
SURE R LOOKIN GOOD (NW4400M)M showed some good pace from second over and earned a look in next
Tuesday, September 26
HENDERSON SEELSTER (CLMHCP175/20000) scored easily on a front-end romp and should be hard to catch if he tries again.
HILLASVIVA (NW2) broke at the start, settled and put in a strong last quarter to get back up for the place. Beaten favorite can atone with a bit of luck.
EVIL GUY (CLMHCP25/30000) lost last time out, returned in a new barn and got back on his winning streak.
MY LITTLE CAPTAIN (W4-6FM) beaten favorite was second best in uncovered effort in last and would be no surprise if she scores in next.
Wednesday, September 27
ARMADA HANOVER (W1-3) well-bet second choice is a two-year-old and sat pocket to the favorite and battled to the end but was second in the photo.
KINGPIN HANOVER (NW1100) trotter followed wide the final turn to clear weak uncovered foe, stacked four deep, cleared traffic but was stuck three wide when the winner pulled, flattened a bit but bears watching in next race or two.
ALL THE RAGE (NW2FM) was parked to the lead but never looked back once on the engine. The Svanstedt trained and George Nap driven combo is hard to bet against.
WARRAWEE BROOKE (NW1FM) left to the top and was a handy wire to wire winner to win her debut race as the well-bet second choice to her betting-favorite stablemate.
PANTHEON HANOVER (CLMHCP125/15000) had to go wide to clear bad cover, stayed wide when another foe pulled, finished with pace but had too far to come.
