Pocono: Horses to watch from Oct. 7 - Oct. 10

Ken Walters|Oct 11, 2017

Saturday, October 7

TERROR OF THE NITE (CLM10000) was out a long way with cover, tipped wide but could not gain, settled back to second over, had pace in the lane, ran into traffic, had to angle wide and closed well but too late.

KINGS BARNS (NW9000) finished full of pace from third over and just missd the odds-on favorite.

PIERCEWAVE HANOVER (NW12000) left to the top, yielded, got in traffic as the lead changed heading home, rallied gamely to get up for second.

MAJOR BUBBLES N (CLM125000) was parked the mile, challenged the whole mile into fast numbers and gamed out a second. Beaten favorite will atone in next race or two.

Sunday, October 8

WESLYNN DANCER (NW5FM) grinded to the lead seeking third straight, yielded to the prohibitive favorite and proved second best. Should find way back to winners circle in quick order.

CINNABAR HALL (NW3000) had cover but went wide when cover tired, chased uncovered but was second best to wrapped-up winner. Beaten favorite can atone in next.

RATHER SWELL (NW3000) sat in, cleared heading home and finished with strong pace leaving plenty for next and can very well take another.

BIGTIIME SO N SO (NW3) left, tucked, pulled to the half, chased the pacesetting favorite and proved second best both on the board and on the track.

Monday, October 9

MASTER OF PUPPETS (CLM7500) closed strong from third over in last and earns a look in next.

NO EXCUSES (NW2FM) tucked early, pulled uncovered, challenged the speed at 8-1 and held gamely but was nailed by the second over favorite.

GLOBAL ICE (NW6000) yielded twice, sat pocket, got a shuffled into the lane, found room, rallied into contention but flattened out.

TOUCHING THOUGHT (NW2FM) broke at the start, settled back, rallied back third over and closed stoutly in game recovery.

Tuesday, October 10

TICA HANOVER (NW3FM) went down the road in first back off a layoff and was nailed in the last stride. Should be tighter in next race or two.

HERETIC FRANCO N (NW3300M) was long uncovered at 25-1 challenging the pacesetting odds-on winner and was a very game second best.

FRAC (NW9000) yielded twice, got a shuffle in the final turn as the lead changed, rallied but the winner had gotten away. Beaten favorite can score in next.

LITTLE HANOVER (NW3FM) finished strong from third over and would be no surprise in next.

JOES BID (NW3) was parked to the top, put a challenger in the pocket, met another challenger challenger, dug in gamely but tired.
