Pocono: Horses to watch from Oct. 1 - Oct. 4

Ken Walters|Oct 06, 2016

Saturday, October 1

FORTUNISTA (NW12000) was parked a long way, challenged hard and tired.

CLEAR VISION (NW17500) tucked twice along the way, rallied but was second best.

MIGHTY PERUVIAN N (CLM15000) was parked to the lead but was long gone heading home.

SWEET ROCK (NW12000) left well, took the lead, yielded, got shuffled, pulled uncovered, chased the prohibitive favorite and was a credible second best.

Sunday, October 2

YIPPITY HANOVER (NW7) closed well but late form third over and should be a factor in next race or two.

WESTERN TYRANT (NW2/2YO) finished wide and made up good ground to lost by a mere nose in last.

MOOSE MADNESS (NW1) brushed to the half, took the lead, hit the accelerator, drew away and cruised home.

MICHAELS VICTORY (NW5) opted for the early pocket, tipped to the half, grabbed the engine and never looked back.

Monday, October 3

PICK UP THE TAB (NW2) tucked to the quarter, pulled uncovered to the half, challenged to the last steps in game effort.

ALL STAR PLAYER (CLM7500FM) put in a dead game three move effort and was nipped on the wire by the much fresher favorite.

ROCKERS ALLEY (CLMHCP10/12500M) closed strong from third over and earns a long look in next.

RED MAPLE LANE (NW3000) followed the odds-on favored winner home and was easily second best.

Tuesday, October 4

LEAN ON YOU (NW6000) raced second over, gapped cover a bit to the lane but closed gamely once he hit his stride. Beaten favorite can atone in next.

ROCK ME GENTLY (NW9000FM) closed gamely between horses once clear of early stretch traffic but it was too late.

WHAT A PEACH (NW3) was an impressive wire to wire winner in last and will be heard from again soon.

DEADWOOD HANOVER (NW3) followed wide with good finish but had far to come.
