Pocono: Horses to watch from May 6 - May 9

Ken Walters|May 11, 2017

Saturday Afternoon, May 6

FRANKIE MULLINS (NW1) rushed to the top, set the pace under pressure, shrugged off the challenger past the half and drew away for the convincing score.

SHECHEATEDONDEWEY (NW1FM) went to the top, yielded, retook and held with authority to break her maiden.

ITSGOODTOBEQUEEN (NW2FM) broke before the start, missed the gate, recovered and sat on the rail to the lane, tipped, closed strongest between horses.

Saturday Evening, May 6

MARTY MONKHOUSER A (NW6200) was looped to the lead, tucked but pulled and went to the top, yielded, sat pocket again and rallied gamely but the odds on favorite outkicked him.

SOMEWHERE IN L A (VAN ROSE) was parked a long way to the lead, faced a determined challenger from the half to the stretch putting in a vicious third panel in the process and tired.

REAL ROCKER (CLM10000) tucked early, got jammed up when the lead changed but inherited the pocket, sat to the lane, had to tip wide as the speed tired, closed late and earns a look in next.

Sunday, May 7

TUONOBLU REX (NW22500) was parked to the lead, drew away the last quarter for 2nd in a row and number 3 looms on the horizon.

MAGIC FORCES (NW1FM) pulled to the third panel second over and rolled by for win in debut.

MARAT (NW3100) closed from back of the pack with wicked stretch rally and just missed.

SUNSHINE WEST (NW3) was victimized by a horror trip and has to earn a look in next.

Monday, May 8

SUNSHINE DELIGHT (NW2FM) yielded, retook and drew away for the impressive score.

KING OF THE CROP (NW3100) left well, took the lead, yiedled but got shuffled past the half, tipped into the lane but was blindswitched to mid lane, found room and closed too late.

GIANT MUSCLES (CLMHCP10/12500) was looped to the lead and parked uncovered, challenged hard to the lane, tired but battled back in the late stages to earn a well deserved 3rd.

OUTKAST BLUE CHIP (NW2) rallied wide and game to nail it in the last steps. Should score another one soon.

Tuesday, May 9

LOVINEVERYMINUTE (NW12000M) was parked a long way to the lead, set a good clip, dug in while tiring but was nipped in last step by tripped-out pocketsitter. Beaten favorite can atone with easier trip.

TERROR AT NIGHT (NW18000M) was parked the mile at 40-1, challenged hard to the lane, tired and got in tight with bearing in horse.

ARTACHE HANOVER (NW3300) pulled early, brushed to the lead and left them in his wake.

AMERICANGIRLFRIEND (NW6000M) came uncovered and rallied gamely at 20-1 getting outicked by the fresher pocketsitter.
