Pocono: Horses to watch from May 24 - May 27

Ken Walters|May 30, 2025

Saturday, May 24

STONEBRIDGE REEF (NW4700) was bet off the board, rallied to the third panel, challenged and won impressively. The odds and the ease of the score indicate there will be more to come.

SOUTH BEACH STAR (NW7001) was parked to the lead, went down the road to the last steps before getting caught. The speed was having a tough time holding on the card and this beaten favorite can atone in quick order.

JR BLACK GOLD (NW3000) finished full of pace inside as the odds-on favorite and can step up and take another.

BLOWIN SMOKE (NW3000) was parked the mile, challenged to the final turn before tiring and can win at this level with better trip.

Sunday, May 25

BONHOMIE HANOVER (NW2FM) brushed and crushed in last outing and will be hard to deny in next.

BALLARD EINSTEIN (CLM25000) sat pocket at nearly 70-1, had aim but was nailed on the wire. Do not ignore in next race or two.

TOP FLOOR TACTICS (NW2) second choice on the board, trotter rushed up, challenged but was held at by by the pacesetting odds-on favorite.

MRS CHEESE (NW1FM) favorite rallied strongly passing the third call, challenged and was a handy winner nailing the well-bet second choice.

Monday, May 26

IDEALSOMEMAGIC A (NW2800) blew wide around dead cover, challenged, blew by the leader and drew off with every step. Can face better and win again.

BROMAX (NW1) trotter just missed by a neck rallying from third over.

STONECHOLDTREACHERY (W3-5FM) jogged to drawing-away romp and will win again.

BYTHELLITEOFTHEMOON (W3-5FM) had the prohibitive favorite's cover and was a wrapped up 2nd best at 55-1.

WAY TOO SWEET (CLMHCP12500/15000M) had poor cover, rallied wide and finished for third place to earn a look in next.

Tuesday, May 27

BEN SOLO (CLM15000) was wide passing the half trying to clear traffic, settled back, pulled passing the third call, went wide around cover and closed in with good pace but needed a few more feet of track. Next time could get it done.

ENCOMIUM (NW2) showed some good late speed through the lane at 89-1 to be second best to the even-money favorite.

SAINTHOOD (NW4800) was parked the mile, challenged the pacesetting prohibitive favorite to the final turn before backing off.

STRAIGHT UP COOL (CLM10000) was moving well through the lane rallying wide from third over. Beaten favorite may turn it around in next.
