Pocono: Horses to watch from May 21 - May 24

Ken Walters|May 25, 2016

Saturday, May 21

KEYSTONE VELOCITY (NW17500) closed well from third over over and should continue to be a threat.

CALVIN B (NW12000) beaten favorite was moving early behind a parked horse and wiped out when the cover broke. Earns a long look next time out.

ST PETE STAR (CLM12500) closed well from second over but the beaten favorite could not catch the pacesetter in the lane.

WAHINE (CLM15000) was twice used, chased the winner home from the pocket as the well bet second choice and cannot be discounted in next.

BIG BOY DREAMS (NW6000) left, tucked, pulled to the half, raced uncovered, challenged and wore down the favored pacesetter, dug in in gamely to the wire but the tripped-out winner nipped him on the wire.

Sunday, May 22

ALEXANDER HANOVER (NW5) tucked early, pulled passing the half, gained the favorite's cover and chased him home gamely.

PRAYER SESSION (CLMHCP15/20000) went down the road, drew off and was eased through the lane.

ON THE SLY (CLMHCP20/25000) came uncovered a long way, challenged the pace setting odds-on favorite and tired.

APPLEBY HANOVER (NW1) rallied belatedly and will show more when the moment comes.

ANDOVERS TOUCH (CLM15000) tucked early, pulled uncovered to the third panel, gave it the good old college try and was outfinished. Should be along in time soon.

Monday, May 23

SOUTHWIND VOLTAGE (CLM12500) left, took the top, yielded, retook, set a good clip and was strong to win 4th straight.

ROAD UNTRAVELED (NW3000) beaten favorite saved to the final turn, tipped with cover, swung wide, rallied all out and hit his best stride a few steps late.

VELOCITY VESPA (CLMHCP125/15000M) well bet favorite set the pace on her own and proved best looking like she can do it again.

CHECKS COMMODORE (NW5) was wide early, parked to the lead, set a pressed pace and gutted it out for second.

Tuesday, May 24

GIRLOFYOURDREAMS (NW12000M) tucked early, pulled to the half, rushed wide around tired cover, took the lead at 51-1, yielded to the brushing favorite and proved second best in game effort.

STACIA HANOVER (NW12000M) brushed powerfully around a tired parked horse, rushed up to take the lead and was much the best.

SMOOTH CRIMINAL (NW3000) was parked to the lead, drew away and crushed his foes.

HIPNUMBERONE (NW3000M) rolled along at a good clip and was much the best in strong effort.

TYSON (NW3) left wide, got parked a long way to the lead, set a pressed pace and dug in gamely while tiring. Beaten favorite should atone in quick order.
