Pocono: Horses to watch from May 18 - May 21

Ken Walters|May 24, 2024

Saturday, May 18

WEHADABABYETZABOY (CLMHCP30/40000) beaten favorite was used to the lead, set a good clip and tired. Should be tighter and could get it done.

WOMEN LAYER (STALLION) brushed early and was best to earn 5th straight win in quickest of the four divisions on the card.

CAPTAIN ALBANO (PaStars) was parked to the lead, yielded for the pocket and was a game prohibitive winner in seasonal debut.

RUSH IN (PaStars) brushed the final turn to win going away and will be heard from in next leg.

Sunday, May 19

STRETCH THE LINE (CLMHCP20/25000) brushed from third over to clear a dead flow, chased uncovered but tired by the lane. Do not overlook in next race or two.

DAME GOOD TIME (NW2) was parked to the lead but it was a jog once on the front and he should get another.

DOUBLEORNOTHING N (CLHCP15/17500) beaten favorite was in the pocket but shuffled when the lead changed in the final turn, slipped out, rallied and just missed.

PLAY THE FIELD (CLMHCP15/17500) was shuffled the final turn behind a folding early leader, wheeled wide and closed well to earn a look in next.

Monday, May 20

DU MAURIER (NW1FM) tucked brushed, set a good clip and was wrapped up through the lane.

ELECTRAGLDE DE VIE (NW1) challenged to the lane at 8-1, ducked in as the pocket opened, rallied gamely but second best to the late-closing odds-on favorite.

COCKATILWITHAKICK (NW1FM) beaten favorite had a very eventful trip getting shuffled out of the lead twice but escaped some moderate traffic the final turn to get up for 2nd to the well-bet second favorite.

NAKED COWBOY (NW1) was parked to the lead but was an impressive front-stepping winner.

Tuesday, May 21

PARISIAN BLUE CHIP (NW6500M) well-bet second choice tipped into a blindswitch in the final turn, angled out, cleared and rushed home to just miss the pacesetting odds-on favorite.

RUSTY BEACH (NW4) was parked to the lead, set a pressed pace hounded by the prohibitive favorite and dug in gamely but was second in the photo at over 20-1.

TOPVILLE SOMROCKET (NW4400) odds-on favorite wired the field in speedy mile and can take another.

ALL GREEN (NW2FM) was parked the mile, challenged to the final turn, suffered broken equipment along the way and deserves a look in next race or two.

NEW RULES (NW9500) was used to the lead but drew off strongly and should be tough to overhaul in next.
