Pocono: Horses to watch from May 17 - May 20

Ken Walters|May 24, 2015

Sunday, May 17

JO PAS WELL SAID (STALLION) had too far to come in last but this beaten favorite can atone in next.

READY TO IGNITE (NW1/3-4YOFM) was parked around early traffic, tucked, pulled when clear, brushed to the lead and drew away as much the best.

ABERDEEN HANOVER (STALLION) was out early, yielded and was shuffled, got stuck behind a tired one, tried to rally in the lane but was boxed in until the late stages.

PAYDAZE ON THE WAY (CLM15000FM) challenged the favorite uncovered, gamed out second while tiring and could get luckier with better trip.

CHIPPS LAKE (NW4501) was shuffled just enough to lose best chance. Finished with good, strong trot once into the lane. Beaten favorite has what it takes to make quick return to winners circle.

Tueday, May 19

MESMERIZED (NW1) absolutely crushed the field as the odds on favorite and left plenty for next time.

AMERICAN ALIVE (NW3/3-4YOFM) was quick to the lead, got rough, broke, took back, rallied wide in the final turn, came home strongly and missed by less than a length. Beaten favorite will atone soon.

SPUNKY MONKEY (NW7000) saved, rallied well and will find his own spot sooner or late.

MUSCLE MASSACRE (NW5) was in the pocket and had aim heading home only to be knocked off stride by the breaking leader losing any chance.

Wednesday, May 20

BIG BILL BREEZE (NW5000) was shuffled in the final turn as speed collapsed, tipped, cleared traffic, ducked in, rallied but too little, too late.

PROUD MOMENT (CLMHCP15/20000) put in a good down the road effort in last only to be nailed by the tripped out pocket-sitting favorite.

SUDOKU (NW5/3-4YOFM) left, tucked, pulled uncovered, challenged the favorite the last three-eighths and did not go away but was a nose short at the wire.

DREAS GOOD POWOW (NW7000M) was parked for the mile, ranged up uncovered, challenged through the lane and got it done.

CADILLACE CRUISER (CLM10000) challenged more than a half mile, could not go by the favorite but kept battling to be second best on the board and in the photo.
