Pocono: Horses to watch from May 15 - May 18

Ken Walters|May 20, 2021

Saturday May 15

MELODIES MAJOR (NW6300) sat at the rear, rallied late between horses and bears watching.

STEUBEN HANOVER (NW9001) rallied uncovered and came on gamely to nail it as the prohibitive favorite and can take another.

ELECTRIC WESTERN (NW3400) left well, got shuffled, finished with good pace rallying late between foes and should earn a win.

REDHOT ROMEO (CLMHCP10/12500) took the top, yielded, sat pocket, tipped into a blindswitch in the final turn, finished gamely to get up for second.

LORD OF MISRULE (CLMHCP10/12500) finished gamely but late between horses in latest.

Sunday, May 16

ALII NUI (NW3000M) tucked, sat pocket and won going away.

KANDY KORN (NW3000) saved to the final turn, tipped and closed with good trot to finish 2nd.

TAPPED TEEN (STALLION) put in a solid front-end effort in last at 20-1 but was nailed by the pocket-sitting favorite.

SIMON SAYS HANOVER (STALLION) sat to the rear but finished best of all with wide rally on a night when speed ruled.

Monday, May 17

POND JUMPER (CLMHCP125/15000) was a handy wire to wire winner in last and can take another.

KISS AN ANGEL (NW1FM) tucked early, rallied late and was second best on the board and on the track.

CHANEL BEACH (NW1FM) was out the final turn third over with solid finish and bears watching.

THISISSHE (CLMHCP20/25000) was parked the mile grinding throughout and tired but still only missed a length and half.

Tuesday, May 18

CARRINGTON (NW4FM) was very wide but too late. Beaten favorite should atone in next.

BEST IN SHOW (W4-7) went down the road but was nailed by the pocket-sitting second favorite for the second time in a row. Worth another look but not with Gray Dragon in the race.

BETTOR OF THE WEST (NW2) set his own clip and stepped up the speed to the third call and was a handy winner in quick final time.

CANT SAY NO (W4-7) took the briefest pocket tuck but moved to the top. Put away the favorite's challenge but was nailed by the second-over late-closing winner.
