Pocono: Horses to watch from May 13 - May 16

Ken Walters|May 18, 2017

Saturday, May 13

MARTY MONHOUSER A (NW9200) won going away from second over in last and should take another.

OWEN HANOVER (CLM25000) was parked to the lead at 9-1, met strong pressure twice along the way and missed by two necks.

DURANT (NW3000) suffered broken equipment early, settled and challenged uncovered all the way but was nailed in the late stages. Should score in next race or two.

CAN I SAY (NW12000) set a pressed pace, dug in gamely and warded off the late bid of the tripped out pocketsitting favorite.

Sunday, May 14

PINKRIBBON WARRIOR (NW3) was parked a long way, challenged uncovered but tired. Beaten favorite can atone with better trip.

FRENCH PRESS (NW1FM) prohibitive favorite brushed to the three-quarters and drew off impressively. Will take a few more if that was any indicatioin of her talent.

SPICEDBOURBONGIRL (NW7) went to the lead, avoided trouble and won easily. Might be able to get another.

FLAGSTAFF (NW1) tucked early, rallied late and was second best at 6-1.

Monday, May 15

LITTLE JOKE (CLMHCP15/20000M) closed well at nearly 27-1 and should find her way to the victory with better trip.

TIEMPO HANOVER (NW2) left, took the lead, yielded, got shuffled, closed well but had too far to come to catch the prohibitive pacesetting favorite.

BUSBOY HANOVER (NW3500) left, tucked, came uncovered, closed gamely but was beaten by the pocket-sitting winner.

MACH THIS WAY (CLMHCP10/12500) sat in, got a bit of a shuffle in the final turn, cleared and closed well to just miss.

Tuesday, May 16

VERY LOUDLY (NW3100M) was second over to poor cover, rallied gamely coming uncovered once clear of the roadblock to chase the odds-on pacesetter. Never quit and kept coming to the last steps.

DEALMAKER (NW3100) set the pace battling two challengers along the way and dug in gamely but tired.

HARRY TERROR (NW3) tucked to the quarter, pulled uncovered to the half, chased, challenged and proved second best at 20-1 to the odds-on favorite.

TALKIE TOOTSIE (NW3FM) took the lead, yielded, retook, set a good clip and kicked away heading home holding well to score the upset to the odds-on favorite.
