Pocono: Horses to watch from May 12 - May 15

Ken Walters|May 16, 2018

Saturday, May 12

CC BIG BOY SAM (CLMHCP125/15000) finished strong from an impossible spot and has to be respected in next.

ALTA JEROME N (CLMHCP30/40000) took the top, yielded, inherited the lead and pressure when the pacesetter backed through the field, put away the challenger and drew off in strong performance.

MAINLAND KEY N (CLM10000) well-bet second choice went down the road on a tiring night, dug in but could not stall the tripped-out favorite.

LEGION OF BOOM (NW90001) pacesetting favorite lowered the boom on his foes in sterling down the road victory and will take another.

Sunday, May 13

PURE COUNTRY (GRTNEOPEN) got an early tuck, pulled uncovered to the half, challenged and dug in but was nailed by a fast-closing winner. Should be tighter in next.

ALVISI HANOVER (NW1) brushed to the top, set a pressed pace and proved second bet on the board and on the track. Keeps knocking on the door and will get an answer soon.

MORE THAN TALK (NW3000) had a long way to come after following wide in the final turn to rally strongly but just missed.

WILL TAKE CHARGE (GRTNEOPEN) broke at the start, sat to the rear, roared wide and closed a ton in huge recovery.

Monday, May 14

BUTCHIE BEACH (NW2FM) two starts, two wins and it looked easy in last.

AMERICAN INFLUENCE (NW2) first race of the year was a winner rallying confidently from the pocket and can take another.

HEY JUDY JUDY (NW2) set the pace under pressure from the uncovered favorite and proved second best on the track as well as on the board.

COUSIN BEA (NW2) was parked to the lead, yielded to the winner, stalked in the pocket but was second best and should be tighter in next.

Tuesday, May 15

YS LOTUS (NW3000) yielded, retook, set a good clip and was a confortable winner.

ROYAL SURPRISE (NW9000) was long uncovered, challenged all the way in game effort but nipped by the fresher second-over winner.

MY LOVE BI (NW3000) rushed up and broke, took back, settled, grinded gamely uncovered, took the lead, tired and was nipped at the wire. Should score soon with clean trip.

KANDY KORN (NW12000) tipped heading home and finished fast to just miss at the wire.
