Pocono: Horses to watch from March 25-27

Ken Walters|Mar 31, 2023

Saturday, March 25

LUCBEWTHALEX (W4-7) rallied well the last panel ducking for the drive and finished with pace. Beaten favorite should not be ignored.

VETTEL N (NW20000) yielded twice and was second best to the impressive winner.

BENJIS BEST (CLMHCP30/40000) crushed foes in wire to wire jaunt and will be hard to beat again.

WAR DAN DELIGHT N (CLMHCP29/25000) set the half, yielded for the pocket, rallied gamely but just missed catching the even-money favorite.

Sunday, March 26

ROCKIN THE BLAZE (CLMHCP15/17500) was a handy wire to wire winner in second race over the track and could take another.

MAKE SOME WAVES (CLAIMS) was parked the mile, challenged to the lane and tired in tough-luck effort.

BELFAST N (NW6500M) rushed up uncovered, tucked the pocket passing the third call and was second best at over 11-1.

SPORTSMANSHIP (CLMHCP10/12500) closed well from third over and should not be ignored.

Monday, March 27

DIVINE SPIRIT (NW4000) was on the move in the final turn, gained poor cover, rallied wide but had too far to come.

AFLAME HANOVER (NW4000) was stung on a retake, met the favorite's pressure the last quarter, dug in gamely but was nailed in the last steps.

GINGERTREE STAKIAS (NW6000) rallied with good trot 4 wide into the lane and bears watching.

FOLLOW YOUR HEART (NW2500) missed three months, came back sharp and won going away at over 20-1 off a pocket trip.

HIGH VOLTAGE DEO (NW1) shipped in off a good qualifier and proved game in the late stages to hold off the pocket-sitting favorite.

CRUISE HANOVER (NW2) sat pocket second best at every call at odds of nearly 18-1 in first start of the year and should score soon.

GINGER TREE BRAD (NW2500) was parked to the lead, went down the road to win handily and would be no surprise.
