Pocono: Horses to watch from March 23 - March 26
Saturday, March 23
SKY GUY (CLM10000) was used parked to the lead, set a pressed pace, dug in gamely but was nipped on the wire by the alertly driven winner and could get luckier in next.
ROCKEYED OPTIMIST (NW9100) odds-on favorite rushed to the front, set a hot clip and was a strong best to the well-bet second choice.
IDEAL WHEEL (NW9100) sat buried and a non thought to the lane, tipped, found room and roared between horses to upset after a long absence and could take another.
P H KENNY (CLM12500) moved wide from the back of the pack in the final turn, motored by all but the all-out tiring but game winner.
SHADY CITY (NW6100) was parked the mile battling with the front-stepping favorite and nearly got it done in noteworthy game effort.
Sunday, March 24
SO LONG DARLING (NW3100) sat in, rallied strong up the rail and just missed the tiring favored pacesetting winner.
MUSCLE FASHION (NW4000) uncovered favorite trotted by the pacesetter and won impressively with the well bet second choice far back.
SLUGGEM N (NW7000) was on the rail and got badly shuffled when the pocket horse quit, rallied around trouble, came up the rail in the lane to game out second place and deserves a look in next.
FOREVERNALWAYS (MW3100) was behind poor cover at 27-1, rallied wide, cleared, chased, battled the odds-on pacesetter but coud not get there. Better trip might have been enough.
Tuesday, March 26
NO EXCUSES (NW3000) trotter left to the top, yielded the lead, got shuffled as the lead changed hands again, tipped, brushed three wide to the third panel, took the top and pulled away.
YES DOUBLE DOWN (NW3000M) tucked early, pulled to the half, swung wide around tiring cover, rallied to the leader and dug in gamely to be second at 21-1.
TOPVILLE CAMARO (NW3000M) followed wide in the final turn and closed well once into the lane.
GRAPPLE HANOVER (NW2) followed wide and just missed.
