Pocono: Horses to watch from March 15 - March 18
Saturday, March 15
GENTLE GIANT (NW6400) rallied wide the final turn, closed in last and gained second-place money.
SWEET PARLAY (NW4) sat last, rallied late and might get involved earlier in next race or two.
BELMONT ROYALE N (NW10400) tucked early, raced second over, closed well to be second best to the odds-on pacesetter on a day when speed ruled.
ESCAPE TO AMERICA (NW6400) finished full of pace from third over to just miss at nearly 20-1.
CHARLIE MAY (NW19000) put in a solid wire to wire win in latest and can take another with similar effort.
Monday, March 17
RUN RUN ELEGANT (CLMHCP15/20000) tucked early, pulled past the half, challenged, wore down the leader but was short at the wire as the late-closing winner brushed wide to the lead in the final turn. Beaten favorite would be no surprise in next.
JESMACH ON TARGET (CLMHCP15/2000) was in the early pocket about to the shuffled to the 3-hole and broke. Took back, settled and flashed some good late trot. Do not ignore in next race or two.
DEES RED DELICIOUS (CLMHCP15/20000) was in the pocket to the final turn, slipped out to follow the even-money uncovered winner as the speed tired, finished well to be second best.
CHAPOLIER (CLMHCP25/30000) wired the field to score handily....again. Vet campaigner has shown an amazing fondness for winning in recent races.
STAR TRACK HANOVER (CLMHCP15/20000) put away two serious challenges to draw away from the field in the lane. Should get it done again.
GLOBAL TWIST (NW2) trotter flashed some good late speed passing many foes en route to second place finish and deserves a long look.
Tuesday, March 18
WAY TOO SWEET (CLAIMS) left quick to the lead, met pressure, yielded passing the first call and was shuffled to the three-hole, closed with good pace inside but was outkicked by the pocket horse.
QUICK SNAP (CLAIMS) was at the rear to the final turn, launched his rally and finished strong to get up for second.
HUMAN COCKTAIL (CLAIMS) was parked to the lead, set the pace under pressure and tired on a day when front steppers ran out of gas in every race. Beaten favorite could get luckier in next.
ANGELO (CLAIMS) was parked, challenged the top one to the final turn before giving way.
WHEELHOUSE HANOVER (NW1) sat pocket at 37-1 and was second best in latest.
COLONEL BAYAMA (CLAIMS) had to go wide to clear a collapsing foe, rallied wide and closed strong to catch the tiring leader and should give a good try in next also.
