Pocono: Horses to watch from March 11-13
Saturday, March 11
DRAGON STRIKES (CLAIMS) finished full of pace from the back of the pack in latest and bears watching.
DAVIDS COMING HOME (CLAIMS) came fast to be second best to the favorite and should score soon.
THE WALL (NW9000) was parked to the final turn, tucked, rallied gamely but was tiring. A better trip could get a photo op in the winners circle.
FRONTIER ROLLO (CLAIMS) sat pocket and won going away at nearly 13-1 in last outing.
A BETTOR BEACH (CLAIMS) tucked, sat in to the final turn, slipped out with strong rally but had cleared a step too late.
Sunday, March 12
VINOVIO (CLAIMS) took a quick lead, yielded and was badly shuffled as speed collapsed, flashed late speed and could be luckier in next.
SONG CYCLE SENESE (CLAIMS) sat last, rallied fast and will find a win soon.
CLASSIFICATION (CLAIMS) finished full of pace up the rail from last to just miss first.
NADINA HANOVER (NW9000M) another in a long list of late closers on the card who just missed and should not be overlooked.
Monday, March 13
SPINOUT (CLAIMS) first of a few on the card making their first start of the year. Got caught wide the final turn, flattened out and tired into the lane. Should be tighter next race or two.
SAMMY THE BULL N (CLAIMS) charged home at 14-1 to just miss in first start of the year.
ONE AFTER NINE (NW4000) yielded past the quarter, sat pocket and won going away in first of the year and will be hard to fault in next.
ALWAYS B NAUGHTY (NW1FM) was a speedy and impressive winner in latest and should take another.
PAULIE WALNUTS (NW2500) was parked to the lead, set the pace under immediate pressure and gutted out a second place finish to the tripped-out pocket-sitting winner.
