Pocono: Horses to watch from Mar. 16 - Mar. 19

Ken Walters|Mar 22, 2024

Saturday, March 16

AFLAME HANOVER (NW9500) tucked, sat pocket and was shuffled out when the lead changed. Should rebound from that costly shuffle and would be no surprise.

BLOODHOUND (NW6400) moved to the third panel, rallied uncovered, won going away.

ISLANDSPECIALMAJOR (GAME/CLAIMS) tucked early, pulled to the third panel closed stoutly to win going away in the fastest of the divisions.

NOTED A (NW12500) rallied gamely uncovered the final turn and just missed at 19-1.

CRUNCH TIME A (NW12500) rallied the final turn but flattened out heading home. Gotta have faith this one will find a win soon.

Monday, March 18

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN (NW1) well-bet second choice put in a game uncovered challenge to win in good time over the pacesetting favorite and could take another.

NOB HILL FLASH (GAME/CLAIMS) blew the 20K claimers field away much the quickest win in the six divisions and will be hard to beat.

GEMINI EXPRESS (GAME/CLAIMS) grinded up uncovered to game out a strong win versus the 11K claimers field.

GO WEST GO FAST (GAME/CLAIMS) was parked early, tucked, pulled with covered and closed gamely to be second in his division of the 11K claimers.

SWEET HEAR AS (NW6400) trotter rushed to the top, yielded for the pocket, challenged the final quarter but was second best at over 20-1 and bears watching.

Tuesday, March 19

CHASE MATEO (NW4) tucked early, rallied strong but late from third over just missed at 25-1 and bears watching.

GRAY DRAGON (NW4400) won going away rallying off cover as the odds-on favorite and can take another.

BUR BUN (NW4) had the tough trip as the beaten favorite. Left, challenged and appeared to be taking lead, broke, took back to the rear, rushed wide in the final turn looking good but was bothered, forced very wide but rallied back again passing a few to nail a payday. Should atone soon.

MOVE THE LINE (NW2800) rallied wide from second over and closed well flattening just a bit in the last strides at over 50-1. Do not overlook.

ITS A HORSE (NW2800) trotter left and was parked 3-wide, took back for a tuck, pulled to the third panel, lost cover but continued gamely to get up for 2nd. Beaten favorite can atone with better racing luck.
