Pocono: Horses to watch from June 25 - June 28

Ken Walters|Jun 29, 2016

Saturday, June 25

WHITE MOUNTAIN TOP (CLMHCP25/30000) took a tuck at 12-1, pulled with cover, followed to the lane and closed well but came up a bit short. Comes from good barn and will be heard from.

ROCKEYED OPTIMIST (WO27500) left, tucked, pulled and brushed, set a good clip and was much the best. Should be able to do it again.

MCARDLES LIGHTNING (NW17500) beaten favorite left, tucked, pulled uncovered, challenged a long way and had aim but was nailed on the wire by the fast-closing winner. Gets a one race pass because of the tough trip and can atone.

SOUTHWIND AMAZON (NW22500) went down the road in last but was headed on the wire by the tripped-out pocketsitting odds-on favoite.

Sunday, June 26

XTATIC HANOVER (CLMHCP20/25000) had to go wide around tired cover, cleared, chased and closed gamely to earn the dead heat for 2nd.

BLOOMING GENIUS (NW3000) raced uncovered and gamed out second to the prohibitive pacesetting favorite on a night when front end speed ruled the card.

ANDY RAY (NW7) had poor cover, closed well to earn second best as the much the best winner blew the field away.

DONOMONI (NW1) had a long way to come racing uncovered and nearly caught the tiring well-bet pacesetting favorite.

Monday, June 27

THREE DREAMS (NW2FM) was parked wide to the lead, set a good clip and proved second best to the pocketsitter. Beaten favorite can atone in next.

WELL LETS SEE (NW2) flashed some good late speed from third over in last and should be considered in next.

CHEZATTER (PaSTARS) was uncovered and won in her debut with easy closing power.

MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING (NW3500) tucked, pulled, brushed, set a pressed pace and dug in gamely but could not stall the odds on pocketsitting favorite.

Tuesday, June 28

SENORITA SANTANNA (NW3000M) was parked a long way, went wide to the third panel, cleared, chased uncovered as the winner got away, tired but dug in to earn 2nd.

WINTER BLUES (NW3000) tucked to the quarter, pulled uncovered to the half, challenged the pacesetting favorite and tired but gutted out the show spot.

ROAD UNTRAVELED (NW6000) put in a good down the road effort but was second best to the uncovered favorite.

TROPICAL TRICE (NW3000) was a three-move winner closing strong to win going away.

DANGEROUS WOMAN (PaSTARS) rushed up uncovered, challenged the pacesetting odds-on favorite but was second best.
