Pocono: Horses to watch from June 24 - June 27

Ken Walters|Jun 30, 2023

Saturday, June 24

JK STANDINGOVATION (CLM40000) finished full of pace and just missed in last trip around the track.

HAVEK (NW23501) was in the pocket and got shuffled into the stretch as the winner rushed to the lead, got out late, finished well but was second best. Beaten favorite could atone in quick order with better trip.

IDEAL BEACH (NW4901) was a handy down the road winner last time out and should try it again.

TRASHYTONGUETALKER (CLMHCP30/40000) was used hard to the lead, opened up a few lengths but tired. Would be no surprise in next.

Sunday, June 25

EAZY HUNTING (NW1FM) raced second over, lost cover into the lane, continued gamely and was gaining as the leader tired but ran out of track.

MILLIES SPIRIT (NW2/2YOF) wasn't content with early pocket, took the top, yielded to the odds-on favorite and chased her home second best at over 11-1.

AMBUSHED (STALLION) went to the top, yielded, got shuffled, rallied late and just missed.

FOXY JOYCE (NW1) was second best to the $.05 on the dollar pacesetting favorite in latest.

Monday, June 26

BRIDGE TO VICTORY (NW2900) wired the field and can beat better.

RUSTY BEACH (NW2) tucked early pocket, got shuffled, rallied late and was second best at nearly 26-1 to the well-bet front-stepping favorite.

KINGPIN HANOVER (NW4) was parked, grinded up, gained cover, went wide to the third panel as cover folded, continued steadily to be third and should not be ignored.

MANDRILL (NW4) well-bet second choice was sitting to the final turn, rallied uncovered but had waited a step too late to begin his move.

Tuesday, June 27

STARS OVER DOVER (NW1) drew off strongly the last panel in impressive front-stepping route.

SWEET HOME (W2-5FM) well-bet second choice rallied too late closing wide around poor cover to be second best to the pacesetting favorite.

NICALO HANOVER (CLMHCP25/30000) tipped off the rail in the final turn, hit best stride one step too late.

CS EXPLOSIVE CHIP (NW1) was parked the mile in dead-game effort challenging all the way but was second best to game winner.

IM A POWRPLAY A (NW6400) was in the pocket and shuffled back as the leader tired, rallied late and should not be ignored in next.
