Pocono: Horses to watch from July 8 - July 11

Ken Walters|Jul 14, 2023

Saturday, July 8

JACKIE MOON (CLM40000) challenged uncovered wearing down the speed but was nailed by the tripped-out pocket-sitting favorite.

BY A HOFF HANOVER (NW4450) left well, yielded and was shuffled, challenged the odds-on favorite at over 20-1 but was second best.

GENTLE GIANT (CLM40000) was anything but gentle in wire to wire romp to score third win in a row.

ARCHIBALD (NW9300) flashed some strong late trot from a distant third over in latest and could get luckier in next.

Sunday, July 9

TREACHEROUS PENNY (NW1FM) was a quick-stepping front-end winner in last and will be hard to beat with similar effort.

T H TYSON (2YO) paid a whopping price in debut win finishing late, wide and fast. Late speed seems to be his forte.

YANKS DUGOUT (NW26000) put in a good down the road effort getting nailed by the prohibitive favorite's late rally from the pocket and would be no surprise.

SPITTING IMAGE (NW6400M) challenged the odds-on favorite at over 17-1 and was second best in latest effort.

Monday, Jul 10

HUGH HESTON (PaStars) tucked, brushed and was a handy winner in debut.

ALL THE RAGE (NW2FM) was parked to the lead but that was that. Filly was impressive in her maiden win for well-trained barn and will be worth following.

SAINT LOUIE (NW4) was never in doubt winning as easy as a $.05 cent on the dollar favorite is supposed to win.

JUDDY DOUGLAS A (NW6700) drew off easily in jogburger and will be hard to beat in next.

Tuesday, July 11

RACIN HUNGRY (W2-5FM) was parked to the lead, met pressure the last quarter and was a game winner.

STRENTHFROMABOVE (W2-5) tucked early, raced second over and hit best stride late to be second. Beaten favorite should not be ignored in next.

GRAND SLAM HERO (NW4) was third over in a bad flow, rallied late and might surprise in next race or two.

NORMA PEARL (PaStars) beaten favorite sat to the rear, rallied wide and finished up strong to just miss.

AINT IT FUN (CLMHCP75/1000) was parked the mile, grinded all the way, loom to the stretch until showing the effects of the tough trip.
