Pocono: Horses to watch from July 29 - Aug. 1

Ken Walters|Aug 02, 2017

Saturday, July 29

THEARTOFCONFUSION A (NW24000) wired the field in handy fashion and should be able to take another.

POINTSMAN (NW9000) closed well chasing the winner home and will be a factor in next race or two.

PAN OF STEEL (NW6000) showed good pace on the front and was nailed in the last step.

ROYAL SURPRISE (NW12100) showed some good trot to be second best to odds-on favorite in most recent.

Sunday, July 30

SHUTTLETRUTH (NW1FM) rallied wide in the final turn, finished well at nearly 40-1 but was a step shy at the end.

MOROSITA BI (NW3000) wired the short in easy fashion and could be in line for another win.

ROCKET J (BW3300) finished strong and wide in 5/8 mile race and looms like a late closing winner in any coming mile race.

HIGHLAND BEACH BOY (NW1) chased uncovered but tired. Have faith that Pat Lachance will have him tighter in quick order.

Monday, July 31

NEWS WATCH (NW2) left, got looped and parked, chased and challenged uncovered, dug in very game but was nipped by the pocket horse.

CANALETTO HANOVER (NW2) showed some good late foot from third over and bears watching.

REVRAC HARBOUR (CLMHCP15/20000) closed powerfully from the back of the pack but it was too much to ask.

BASQUIAT (NW2/2YOF) let the speed settle, brushed and went down the road for impressive win.

Tuesday, August 1

YOUCANIKNOW (NW3) left, tucked, tipped in the final turn second over and rolled by strongly.

SOMEBADDUDE (NW2/2YO) beaten favorite was moving from the pocket to retake, stumbled, had to pull back, recovered with steady pace.

GALLIC SEA (NW3FM) was parked to the lead, set a good clip and was an impressive best.

KEEGAN HO (NW9000/1 1/4 Mi) set a steady clip at the extra distance, tired, battled in the lane, seemed beaten but came back for second and just miss in the photo.
