Pocono: Horses to watch from July 24 - July 27

Ken Walters|Jul 29, 2021

Saturday, July 24

BENJIS BEST (CLMHCP30/40000) had cover the final turn and won going away and can do it again.

DO YA THINK (CLMHCP175/20000) tucked early, rallied the last panel and put the leader away easily.

ZLATAN (NW2500) trotter moved left to the top, yielded and was shuffled, finished with good speed but too late.

BLAZEN RIVER N (NW9000) was used to the lead, put up some good numbers and dug in gamely while holding off a determined pocket-sitter.

Sunday, July 25

TURNTHEFROWNAROUND (NW18000FM) finished fast and wide from 4th over in latest and missed by only a half lenghth.

BETTORS HEART N (NW18000FM) finished up the rail with strong rally and just missed in the same race.

LAREDO TORPEDO N (CLM10000) well-bet second choice was in the pocket headihg home, angled wide to clear some traffic and flashed strong pace to run out of track finishing second.

GOLDEN GESTURE (CLMHCP125/15000) broke at the start, recovered and was third over the last turn with big finish but could not get there.

Monday, July 26

TOUGH MAC (NW2500) won going away from second-over passing the pacesetting favorite in the lane.

SLAVED LABOUR (NW2/2YO) went down the road in solid effort but was second best to the prohibitive pocket-sitting favorite.

BIZET (NW2500) was a handy down the road winner going the mile with the favorite sitting pocket and might take another.

PATSVILLE (NW2/2YOF) yielded, retook and drew off impressively.

Tuesday, July 27

BELMONT MAJOR N (W4-7) left best, yielded and was badly shuffled, rallied late and wide with much the best closing fraction to win going away.

BARDMIRY (NW2FM) went to the top at 20-1, yielded and sat pocket with game finish but was outkicked.

SPLITSVILLE (NW2500) tipped in the final with good rally but was second best on the board and on the track.

SPIT AND VINEGAR (NW2FM) had poor cover but closed strongly with wide rally but had too far to come.
