Pocono: Horses to watch from July 22 - July 25

Ken Walters|Jul 28, 2023

Saturday, July 22

CAVIART LUCA (CLMHCP29/25000) was parked, tucked, pulled again uncovered, chase to the lane and tired. Should give it another try in next.

FEARFUL INTENT (NW12500) brushed early, rolled along en route to a handy career-best winning effort.

PLAY THE FIELD (CLMHCP30/40000) was third over behind a weak second-over foe, rallied late going wide and bears watching.

BLOODHOUND (CLM40000) finished late, wide and fast to be second in the photo and should not be ignored.

PAT MCGARRY A (NW17500) drew off in impressive wire to wire romp in most recent.

Sunday, July 23

CHUCKY DE VIE (NW6400) trotter went off at 27-1 in last, set the pace all the way but was necked on the wire by the pocket sitting second-choice winner.

ROCKIN FURIOSA (NW2050M) was parked all the way, chased on the rim at 56-1 but tired. Do not ignore in next race or two.

LYONS LEGEND (PaStars) brushed and was a handy winner. She will win next.

ALWAYS B FIRST (NW9600M) favorite lived up to her name in last with big finish from third over to make the betting public happy.

SWEET HEART AS (NW2800) tucked to the quarter, raced second over with solid finish. Beaten favorite can atone in next.

Monday, July 24

MOTLEY RAY (NW2) was a quick front-stepping handy winner in last and will be hard to catch in next.

TREACHEROUS PENNY (NW2FM) tucked, brushed, hit the pedal to the third call and left them in her dust.

BAMBINO JOE (NW4400) tucked around a gapper to the third panel, tipped wide into the lane with game finish as the speed folded but was nipped by the late-closing even-money favorite.

SEVENTIER (NW9500) brushed early to the lead, went down the road and was an all-out winner for owner, trainer, driver Gareth Dowse and always bears watching.

P CHICO (NW4) was bothered at the start, rallied to the top passing the quarter, faced pressure the last panel and dug in but was necked at the wire. He won't be 57-1 in next but do not ignore.

Tuesday, July 25

MICHAELS MONSTER (CLM7500) rallied very wide stacked into the lane and finished with good pace to earn a look in next.

STELL SCHOONER (CLM17500/20000) flashed some solid late speed from 2nd over to be second to the pacesetting favorite.

FULLBACK (NW1500) was parked the mile, challenged a long way, wore down the leader but was necked by fast-closing winner.

WINGED FOOT (NW2800) followed wide with solid finish and might surprise with better trip.

KINGPIN HANOVER and MANDANE (NW4) slugged it out in race long duel setting it up for late closers. Either can score in next with better luck.
