Pocono: Horses to watch from July 2 - July 8

Ken Walters|Jul 09, 2014

Wednesday, July 2

SMOKIN BAND (CLMHDP15/20000) left, tucked, got shuffled, sat three-holed to the lane, tipped and stepped it up a moment too late to nail the win.

CHIPS AND WINGS (CLM15000) was moving fastest of all at the wire in most recent but the favorite held on to the end.

JOLTING JEN (NW2/3-4YOFM) came wide into the lane, rallied gamely but was outkicked by a foe that followed her home.

Friday, July 4

SWISS LIGHTNING (CLM7500) sat pocket and was easily best.

TWIN B STINGRAY (NW2/2YO) left and tucked, saved to the stretch, tipped with good finish.

ALLSTAR SURVIVOR (NW4000) got away good, found the rail, got shuffled, tipped heading home and cruised strongly to the victory.

YOUR MY BOY BLUE (CLM5000) came uncovered, challenged the even money favorite and was a game second best.

CATHYS PRINCESS (NW4000M) made a huge sustained rally to blow away the competition.

Saturday, July 5

HUMILITY (CLM27500) closed well from 2nd over to nail second to the pacesetting favorite.

SHOCK IT TO EM (NW24500) made the uncovered bid to the third panel, had aim but faltered. Beaten favorite can atone in next.

E STREET PLAN (nw17500) chased the favorite home with good pace off the pocket trip but was second best.

MOSEE TERROR (NW12500) made the brush, grabbed the top, set a pressed pace as the short-priced favorite stalked the last three-eighths and was second best.

Sunday, July 6

ON LAST ROADIE (NW3) came late and wide and fast to get up for second as the pacesetting winner drew off.

INNER PEACE (NW1) was used to the lead, set a good clip and proved second best both on the clock and the tote board.

NOT THIS TIME (CLM5000) but maybe next time. This one was parked for lungs challenging uncovered to the third panel before giving way.

RICKS CROSSROADS (CLM7500) was impressively much the best on the front end last time and should take another.

DAVID ON ICE (NW4) made a big move from the half to the third panel, grabbed the lead, opened a bit of daylight but faltered. It was an impressive move but at 45-1 it would have been a shocker. Next time the move is timed better and he is tighter but it won't be a shocker.

Tuesday, July 8

JOURNEYMAN (NW2) brushed and crushed in big win last time out and steps up with no problems.

RISE N SHINE (NW7000) Closed strongly from back of the pack and earns a look in next.

LIMA SHOWOFF (NW5) was a game winner in last with a three-move effort.

MUSSELSFRMBRUSSELS (NW7500) was parked the mile in last and should be along in time with better trip.
