Pocono: Horses to watch from July 16 - July 19

Ken Walters|Jul 21, 2016

Saturday, July 16

DURANT (CLM15000) took a tuck near the quarter, pulled, grinded up uncovered, had aim but faltered. Beaten favorite will score with better trip.

SOMEWHERE FANCY (NW17500) was out to the half, challenged the pacesetting favorite but tired late in the stretch.

SPECIAL TERROR (CLM12500) had to go wide in the final turn as cover stopped, had far to come, tried his best but the pacesetting favorite had gotten away.

MCCEDES (CLM15000) another second best challenger who tucked early, came uncovered and challenged the pacesetting favorite but could not get therre. He should be able to nail a win in near future.

SUPREME MACH N (NW6000) came wide into the lane, gobbled up ground and foes en route to game second at 23-1.

Sunday, July 17

WANT ME (CLM7500) wired the field in fine order and should take another.

KEYSTONE TAYLOR (NW1FM) rated the middle and drew off in strong front-stepping win.

KINGS BARNS (NW3000) left well, settled in, got in tight in front of a breaker to the third call then got buried by a quitter in the turn, rallied with pace once clear and earns long look.

PHOTOBOMBR HANOVER (NW3/2YO) tucked early, pulled in the final turn, challenged and roared by leaving a breaking early leader in his wake.

MR BAILANDO (NW1) closed strongly but was outkicked by big rally of the favorite and will beat many this level with same move.

Monday, July 18

QUIET GIANT (NW3000) went to the lead, trotted strong and pulled away.

IBANEZ (CLMHCP10/125000) came home quick and just missed at 62-1. Do not ignore in next.

HOT MESS HANOVER (STALLION) put in a good front-stepping effort in last but was second to the pocketsitting odds-on favorite.

CANTI (STALLION) second choice took aim on the even money favorite in the final turn and passed her like she was standing still.

WELL EXCUUUSE ME (CLM12500M) saved, followed the winner inside and closed well at 30-1.

Tuesday, July 19

A WILD IMPULSE (NW3000) brushed to the lead heading past the third call but was unable to stall the powerful late foot of the odds-on winner and ended up second bedsty at 29-1.

REGAL SIGHT (NW6000) set a good clip but could not last as the tripped out favorite rallied from the pocket.

NUTMEG YANKEE (NW3000M) wired the field easily drawing away the last quarter.

LIFE IS A BEACH (NW9000M) sat pocket, tipped out, swung wide, came up short to the winner who scooted up the inside through the vacated pocket. Next time she gets it right.
