Pocono: Horses to watch from July 12 - July 15
Saturday, July 12
BOOTS (NW1500) was third over, rallied wide and powered home to win going away. Can beat better with same move.
CHIEF BOGO (NW5) closed well from second over and just missed.
HILL OF A WISH (NW5) was third over and hit stride late passing tired foes and could have more to share in next.
ORDAINED (W5-8) led to the last steps over a tiring track. Beaten favorite would atone on a more favoring track.
MR BLUEBIRD (NW12500) went to the lead, set the pace at own speed, met pressure, gave way but was second best. Should be tighter in next and a win is on the horizon.
Sunday, July 13
JOYFUL HANOVER (PaStars) filly sat in to the lane, slipped out, tipped a bit wider with good finish and will be a threat.
SANDYBOOTS YANKEE (PaStars) sat pocket 2nd best at every call and would be no surprise in next.
KISSEDBYASTRANGER (PaStars) went down the road to the last step and can turn it around in next.
SQUANKUM LADY (NW2/2YOF) pulled in the final turn, gained tiring cover, went wide and paced up a storm in game score.
Monday, July 14
CHAMPAGNE ROOM (NW4FM) put in a very fast front-end score in last and should pop another cork or two in quick order.
LION HEARTED (NW2/2YO) left well, yielded for the pocket but tired in the lane. First-time starter was the lukewarm favorite so it appears more is expected.
CAMERA MAN (NW4) was second choice at 5-1 to the prohibitive favorite and was second best in a fast mile as the winner racked up his second straight score; should be able to take it all the way in next race or two.
HURRIKANE LADY LOU (NW1600M) shipped in from Yonkers, romped in last. Should be able to step up and be a threat.
Tuesday, July 15
HEEZ OURPERSEUS N (CLM7599) finished full of pace up the rail to get up for 2nd on a day when speed ruled and bears watching.
PRIATE PRINCESS (NW1FM) put away a last-quarter challenger in a handy front-stepping speedy victory.
IN MY DREAMS (CLMHCP15/20000) trotter wired easily leaving much in the tank and can take another.
LAUGH SHOP (NW2) was looped to the lead and gained control just past the quarter, set a good clip and was a strong winner in last.
BEN ROCKIN (NW3000) left, tucked, sat in and held with pace to be third at nearly 60-1 in last.
