Pocono: Horses to watch from February 22 - 24
Saturday, February 22
LYONS SURFING (CLAIMS) tucked, rushed and jogged in his division in the 1st leg action.
MADELLINES BLK JACK (CLAIMS) went down the road in handy score in his division.
RESOLVE TO WIN (NW9500) yielded, retook and pulled away for easy score and should be tough to overhaul again.
LAYTON HANOVER (WO25000) was parked the mile, chased the speed to the lane before tiring and bears watching.
BONAPARTE (W4-7) well-bet second choice was parked to the lead, met pressure, dug in but was nailed by the late-closing second-over favorite.
UP THE CREEK (CLAIMS) left to the lead at 18-1, yielded to the very well-bet second choice, rallied gamely but was third in the photo to the two favorites.
Monday, February 24
LUPA (COND) went to the lead, stung the favorite, yielded, raced ready to go and did just that when heading home.
CHAPOLIER (CLMHCP25/30000) yielded, retook and was a confident winner to notch another score.
AS ALWAYS (CLM7500) was uncovered, rallied gamely to earn second place.
POST ONTHE BEACH A (CLM7500) was long wide and finished late. Do not overlook in next race or two.
LAURIE LEE (NW4800M) even-money second choice went down the road and held well to ward off the pocket-sitting favorite's 2nd best bid as both turned in the best last quarter on the card.
TRIP HAMMER (NW4450) tucked early, let the speed settle, brushed to the top and was quick footed front-stepping winner and should be good to go again.
