Pocono: Horses to watch from August 19 - August 22

Ken Walters|Aug 25, 2023

Saturday, August 19

CHECK HER OUT (DELMONICA) rallied up uncovered, challenged but was outkicked by the pocket-sitting odds-on favorite.

LISA LANE (LYNCH) sat in to the lane, tipped, ducked to the rail in front of a finished foe and closed strongly.

ACT FAST (HEMPT) wired the field in handy fashion and has to be respected in next.

HEAVEN HANOVER (DELMONICA) was second best on the board, went down the road to the lane, battled the pocket-sitting favorite but came up a neck short in the photo.

STOCKADE SEELSTER (HEMPT) was parked the mile, challenged the pace to the lane wore down the speed but was beaten by the tripped-out second over prohibitive favorite's late rush.

Sunday, August 20

BEACH TOWN BOY (NW6400) rallied wide the final turn and just missed in furious finish.

CAHIRA HANOVER (STALLION) yielded, got shuffled as the lead changed a couple of times, finished with good energy along the rail and was second best in the photo and on the board.

SIERRA GIRL (PaSS) was a handy well-bet winning front-stepping favorite in last and would be no surprise.

MAGIC BEE (STALLION) wire the field in impressive effort in last in her division.

SAMBUCA HANOVER (STALLION) stablemate of the above was even more impressive winning her division and will be hard to overhaul.

Monday, August 21

HILLASVIVA (NW1) left, tucked, sat pocket and was second best at every call.

PERCY HANOVER (W1-3FM) rushed up from the half, tucked the pocket passing the third panel and was second best chasing the favorite home.

PARTY AT SEVEN (NW2) was aided by a challenger breaking and wiping out a few foes but won so easily he might be that good in next.

SIX PACK TONY (NW2/2YO) left, tucked, got shuffled, cleared late with good finish but missed his best shot.

BOBCAT BAY (NW6400) flashed some strong late speed from 2nd over in latest to just miss and might get luckier in next.

Tuesday, August 22

SWEET SECRET (NW2/2YOF) made a long rally around gapping foes, challenged the prohibitive pacesetting favorite and gutted out a game 2nd in the photo.

SIMON GOT LUCKY (CLMHCP17500/20000) rallied the final turn and went wide as the pocket horse tipped, rallied to the lead but was nailed by a fast closing 95-1 shot.

KEYSTONE THUNDER (NW1500) yielded to the pocket sitting favorite's final turn move and was second best at 18-1.

VIBRANCE (W4-6FM) left, tucked at the quarter, pulled at the half, challenged to the lane before tiring. Could get a better trip in next race or two.

BELLISIMA HANOVER (W1-3FM) crushed foes in front-end romp and will be hard to catch with similar effort.
