Pocono: Horses to watch from August 18 - August 23

Ken Walters|Aug 25, 2015

Tuesday, August 18

ANGS DELIGHT (NW1) made his racing debut a winning one with a strong finish from second over.

SAMMY SAID (NW2) won for fun on the front end and looms as hard to beat in next.

POP COP (NW6300) was a well bet second favorite, set the pace and was taken down in the last steps by the tripped-out pocket-sitting favorite.

THE BAKERS CHOICE (NW2) was out a long way, pressed the pace the middle half chasing the prohibitive favorite before tiring and earns long look in next.

Wednesday, August 19

GODDESSS ROSA (NW4500M) favorite set the pace and was much the best.

FRIENDSNHEARTBEAT (NW4500M) close second choice challenged the pacesetting favorite and was second best.

CARLOTA BLUE CHIP (NW6000M) was second over to poor cover, came wide in the final turn, chased the pacesetting favorite home in good effort.

KIDDIE MCCARDLE (CLMHCP125/15000M) left and was parked, challenged hard to the five-eighths and gave way. Trainer will have her tight enough to get it done in near future.

Friday, August 21

BROADWAYS FORTUNE (CLMHCP75/10000) put in a solid second best to the odds-on winner and earns a look in next.

ITTAKESTWOBABY (CLMHCP5/7500) came wide around poor cover and closed well.

IDEAL CANDIDATE (CLMHC15/20000) was buried to the lane, angled out, slid wider and closed strongly.

CAJOLE HANOVER (NW3000) made an early brush to the lead, went down the road and was a very respectable second. Speed should hold better in next.

STEPPIN OUT (NW3000) closed strongly in last and just missed to the odds-on favorite.

Saturday, August 22

STRUT MY STUFF (Valley Forge) left to the lead, yielded and was shuffled, came uncovered after the speed settled, challenged to the last step losing to the favorite.

CRUZADO DELA NOCHE (Colonial) challenged the pace from the half to the wire in game second losing only to the second over even money favorite.

TRADING UP (Brandywine) left and was parked to a tuck, got shuffled in the final turn, raced 5th over the final quarter and finished with pace.

ELWELL (NW55000/3YO) put in a good long uncovered challenge at 18-1 and dug in for second best.

Sunday, August 23

MODERN DAY CLYDE (CLM10000) was second over to the winner the last three-eighths and just missed by a neck at 38-1.

ROCKIN COUGAR (NW5) closed from the back of the pack in quick order and missed it all by a neck.

URIEL (NW17500) had cover the final turn and closed well to miss the odds-on pacesetter by a diminishing neck.

ART Z (CLM12500) was parked to the lead, went down the road to the last step and earns long look in next race or two.

YUCATAN (NW8500) left, tucked, pulled to the third panel, rallied uncovered and closed gamely but the winner had the jump on him. Beaten favorite can get it right next time.
