Pocono: Horses to watch from Aug. 27 - Aug. 30

Ken Walters|Sep 02, 2016

Saturday, August 27

SHADOWBRIAN (CLM20000) left wide, took up, tucked, came uncovered the last half and was a game second.

NAKED CITY (CLM15000) left fast, took the lead, yielded and was shuffled out, angled, finished late but with good energy.

FREENEASY HANOVER (CLMHCP10/12500) grinded uncovered and closed gamely but had too far to come.

UF ROCKIN DRAGON (NW18500) beaten favorite left to the top, yielded, sat pocket, got a bad shuffle in the final turn, tipped clear, set down with quick finish but had lost his chance.

DAVID THE SAINT (CLMHCP15/17500) tucked, got shuffled, cleared inside late and roared up the rail to just miss.

Sunday, August 28

SPICEDBOURBONGIRL (NW7) went to lead, went as far as she could and was nailed by the tripped-out pocket horse.

ON THE SLY (CLMHCP15/23000) was too long wide in the final turn and can be along in time with better trip.

GHOST RUNNER (NW1FM) was a ridiculously easy front stepping winner in last and should take some more.

COOGAN (NW1) was in and out last time around but finished full of trot. Beaten favorite will win next time.

STONEBRIDGE ADAM (NW3000) was much the best pacesetting winner in last and should be tough in next race or two.

Monday, August 29

CRUISIN NORTHWEST (CLM7500FM) brushed wide past the quarter, rushed to the lead and was much the best.

MEADOWVIEW ARNY (CLM7500) left, tucked, got shuffled behind tired ones in the final turn, rallied when free but too late.

SHOW BIZ HALL (NW3000) yielded, retook and left them in the dust.

KEYSTONE DYLAN (NW5) closed well along the rail and could be heard from with right trip.

Tuesday, August 30

PRAIRIE SWEETHEART (NW5FM) brushed to command in last and went down the road to win 9th in a row to start career.

SKIDAWAY (2YO) left well to the top, yielded and was shuffled, improved back to the pocket in the final turn and closed with good trot. He should be hard to beat in next outing.

REAL DI HANOVER (NW3000) closed well from far back to get up for second to odds-on winner.

LIMA CADILLAC (NW3) raced uncovered the last quarter but was second best on the board and on the track.
