Pocono: Horses to watch from April 5 - April 9

Ken Walters|Apr 11, 2014

Saturday, April 5

LATE NIGHT JOKE (CLM20000) Finished full of pace from back of the pack to surprise at 35-1. Next will not be a surprise but seems to be in the cards.

JAGGER BLUE CHIP (CLM10000) Had no shot buried to the lane, slipped out, found a gear and was in full sprint mode through the stretch.

TOWNSLIGHT HANOVER (NW23000) Found an early tuck, rallied well and just came up short to a suprise winner. This one should be along in time in next race or two.

STONEBRIDGE COWBOY (CLM15000) This one dueled the favorite all out and was second best. Should find a better spot to lasso a win in near future.

Sunday, April 6

SCOFANMAN (NW4000) Might have won it in another step as he finished with a rush to just miss the odds-on favorite.

PEGASUS BLUE CHIP (CLM7500) Closed with good energy on a night that speed ruled and earns a look in next.

ART GLASS (CLM5000) Was a strong second to the prohibitive favorite in most recent and would be no suprise.

AMERICAN SHUTTLE (CLM15000FM) Won easily in last and should take another or two.

Tuesday, April 8

TAILLIGHT HANOVER (CLM5000) Had all the worst of it last time out. He left, took the top, yielded and was shuffled back, had poor cover the final turn, came wide in the turn stacking widest and rallied late. Can surprise with better trip.

PAULAS BRADY (NW4000) Put in a solid uncovered effort in last and held gamely from 2nd.

RUNAWAY TRAY (NW4000M) Went down the road as far as she could in most recent at 8-1 only to be nailed in the lane by the fresher odds-on favorite.

AFTER ALIMONY (NW7000M) Pounced on the speed after a pocket trip and hardly seemed to be breathing hard.

Wednesday, April 9

CAVIART CARA (CLMHCP15/20000) Put in a very game unrelenting uncovered bid in last and was still battling at the wire.

QUINCY (CLM15000) Had to come a long way uncovered in last on a night built for speed and was outfinished by a fresher horse.

AFFIRMED ACTION (NW16000) Left and tucked, tipped heading home with good finish but hit his best too late to dent the sharp winner's margin.

GIANT SCULPTURE (NW12000) Gamed out third place going the uncovered route on the wrong night to be sucking in fresh mountain air.
