Pocono: Horses to watch from Apr. 9 - Apr. 12

Ken Walters|Apr 14, 2016

Saturday, April 9

NAKED CITY (NW3000) went down the road losing in the last step to the pocket sitter. Beaten favorite will atone quickly.

HUMILITY (NW18500) closed well but a step too late at nearly 60-1 in most recent.

MUDSLIDE (NW12000) set the pace but tired in the late stages.

SANDESTIN HANOVER (NW6000) was used a long way to the lead. Beaten favorite dug in gamely to the end but could not last.

Sunday, April 10

AFFLUENZA (NW3000) was out the mile, chased uncovered to the lane and tired. Should be better with any kind of decent trip.

GREAT ARTIST (CLM7500) put them away with confidence in pacesetting effort last time out.

BLACK WIDOW BABY (WEISS) tucked, sat in, hit stride late but was moving best of all through the lane.

CANDY CORN HANOVER (WEISS) made it two-for-two in career with strong closing win last time and will be hard to beat.

OPTIONS ARE ADREAM (WEISS) has yet to taste defeat and from the looks of last week's wrapped up wire to wire effort it may take a while.

Monday, April 11

YANKEE ARTILLERY (NW2) went down the road and held well under some urging. Well bet winning favorite will be hard to deny in next.

ROCKINTHEPINES (CLM10000) closed a ton and nearly caught the too confident wire to wire winner.

DEUCES FOR CHARITY (CLMHCP125/15000) tucked early but got a bad shuffle when the early leader backed through the field. Rallied well but had too far to come.

POUNCE HANOVER (NW6000) broke before the start, recovered quick enough, settled in, rallied late but had lost too many steps in the early going.

MODERN MERCURY (NW2) put the favorite in the pocket at the quarter, set a good pace and dug in stubbornly as the favorite rerallied in the stretch but could not hold while clearly second best.

Tuesday, April 12

MY HEIDI (NW3000) was out to the lead, yielded and was shuffled, pulled, tucked the pocket, sat to the lane, ducked in, could not sustain the third move. Beaten favorite can atone with better trip.

GOTTA LOVE HIM (NW3000) put in a good down the road effort in last over a track that was not kind to pacesetters.

AMERICAN VENTURE (NW6000) yielded and got shuffled, brushed to the lead, could not hold off the winner's late speed. Beaten favorite should get it done over a more favorable track.

TOP BRAND (NW6000M) well bet second favorite could not last on the front end as the favorite rallied late from the pocket.

HONEY IM HOME (NW3) set a fast clip but was second best to pocket rocket in last.
