Pocono: Horses to watch from Apr. 19 - Apr. 22

Ken Walters|Apr 26, 2015

Sunday, April 19

SEAWIND GINGER (3-4YO/FM) was used early, yielded and shuffled, pulled again and chased the pace, tucked the pocket, rallied gamely but was second best.

HABERDASHERY (NW4600) went down the road at 10-1 and held together gamely but was nailed on the wire by tripped-out winner.

CRAZY EYES (CLM7500) was on the lead passing the quarter and went down the road only to be picked off late by the very game and grinding winner.

TAMMY ANN (3-4YO/FM) set the pace and was the best winning as she pleased.

NEEDLES AND PINS (CLM5000) pressed the favored pacesetter the middled half, challenged but was second best in solid effort.

Tuesday, April 21

THE BEACH NEXT DOOR (WEISS) needs to be mentioned for down the road effort against the four-horse entry. Got pressed by one, had one in the pocket, had one second over and had one closing late from back of the pack. She tired. You think!

DANCEWITHMECHUCK (NW3/3-4YOFM) finished with a big rush to be second best but it was too late.

MY SPIRIT SOARS (NW3/3-4YO) tucked early, pulled uncovered to the half, grinded up steadily and closed gamely to earn second.

SOUTHERN ALLIE (NW45000) sat pocket primed to go, tipped when ready, let loose and won easily.

SCRIOCO JAKOB (NW1/3-4YO) took a quick lead, met pressure to the final turn, hit overdrive and drew off.

Wednesday, April 22

FALL CREEK BANDIT (NW4600) tucked early, got shuffled, pulled uncovered, challenged hard and dug in gamely but was nailed by the tripped-out second over late closing favorite.

EXPECT A LOT (NW1/3-4YOFM) finished strong from third over but this beaten favorite just had too far to come. Expect a lot next time as she hopes to atone.

HARPER LEE (NW4500M) put in one game parked the mile effort in last and may need only racing luck to get it done.

MUSCLE MASSACRE (CLM7500) put in one dead game effort but could not get by the pacesetting odds-on favorite in the last step.

CARLOTTA BLUE CHIP (NW6/3-4YOUFM) closed well up the rail in last and well-connected miss is always a threat to wake up.
