Pocono: Horses to watch from Apr. 18 - Apr. 24

Ken Walters|Apr 25, 2016

Monday, April 18

KARETS (NW6000) was used to the half, set a steady clip on the lead and was an impressive winner.

DOMINION BEACH (WEISS) met pressure to the half, shook it off and drew away in dominating victory.

STEED (WEISS) was out to the lead, yielded and was shuffled, came uncovered and wore down the leader proving to be a game winner.

MANHATTAN BEACH (NW2) won going away off a three-hole trip.

OLD MAN CLEARY (NW2) rushed to the lead, set a good clip, proved 2nd best as the winner came to call in the final turn.

Tuesday, April 19

AMERITIME (NW3000M) raced uncovered, closed gamely and was nosed out by the tripped-out favorite.

SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR (NW12000M) finished best of all from third over at 24-1 and could get lucky in next.

JJ FLYNN (BW3) wired the field in last as the prohibitive favorite and should be tough to deny in next.

A LISTER (NW3000) finshed well in latest and just missed.

DARLINONTHEBEACH (NW3FM) prohibitive favorite left no doubt who was best in last score.

Saturday, April 23

ITRUSTYOU (NW20000) sat on the rail, got shuffled back in the final turn as the speed faltered and the lead changed, cleared too late but finished with good pace.

JINS DRAGON (CLMHCP25/30000) rushed to the lead, set a good clip and drew away from the uncovered favorite.

SOHO HIGHROLLER A (NW9000) showed no life sitting near the back of the pace but finished with good speed. Do not ignore.

SCOTT ROCKS (WO27500) tucked early, sat in, finished too late. Beaten favorite can atone in quick order.

ALLBEEF N NOBULL (NW13000) took the lead, yielded, sat pocket but got shuffled in the final turn, cleared, finished well but the moment was lost.

Sunday, April 24

ELLIES FUNKY MUNKY (NW1FM) tucked, sat to the final turn, tipped, came to call and won going away.

RODEO ROMEO (NW7) broke before the start and lost too much ground. Beaten favorite finished full of pace from 5th over but it was too much to ask.

QUICK FUN N (WEISS) was in traffic last time when cover broke and forced to go wide in the deep stretch. Finished well but lost his best chance.

SOULMATE HANOVER (NW1FM) wired the field in seasonal debut and should be hard to best in next race or two.
