Pocono: Beautiful Sin swiftest in rain-soaked Pennsylvania Sire Stakes races

Jim Doherty Memorial runner-up Beautiful Sin turned in a 1:56 3/5 mile to lead the way in a trio of $61,547 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes splits for 2-year-old trotting fillies on Monday night at a soggy and sloppy The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.
Racing in the third and final section, Beautiful Sin (Yannick Gingras) got away in fourth while Ladylilli (Corey Callahan) and Magical Beliefs (Marcus Miller) traded the lead through opening-half panels of 28 2/5 and 58. Gingras brought Beautiful Sin to the outside heading to the 1:27 3/5 three-quarters, but Magical Beliefs was able to hold the top spot at that point and around the final turn as well. Beautiful Sin hit top gear in the lane, though, driving past Magical Beliefs in mid-stretch and then pouring it on, moving away to win by 3 1/4 lengths. Sky Is Mine (Tyler Buter) was third.
Trained by Jimmy Takter for owner S R F Stable, Beautiful Sin now sports a record of 3-2-0 from five trips behind the gate, and she has now banked $140,668. Bred by Jeff Gural and Moon Goddess LLC., Beautiful Sin was the top-seller at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, fetching $480,000. She is by Muscle Hill and the first foal out of Sina (Cantab Hall, 1:54 3/5, $144,994). Beautiful Sin was the 1-2 choice and returned $3.00 to win.
Back in the opening flight, Jezzys Legacy (George Napolitano Jr.) took the field to the opening quarter in 28 4/5, then yielded to Hanovers Best (Gingras), who would go on to hit the half in 59 3/5 and the three-quarters in 1:29 1/5. Public choice Sonnet Grace (Rod Allen) was moving up first-over at three-quarters, but she bore out badly about midway through the final turn, leaving Hanovers Best and Jezzys Legacy to decide it, with Jezzys Legacy coming up the passing lane to prevail by a length in 1:57 3/5. Hanovers Best was second and Sonnet Grace had to settle for third after getting straightened back up.
Jezzys Legacy, a daughter of Donato Hanover is trained by Ray Schnittker, who also bred and co-owns her with Little E LLC. and their ownership partners Steven Arnold and Ted Gewertz. This was Jezzys Legacy's first win from four attempts, and she has now earned $35,347. She is the third foal out of Jezzy (Credit Winner, 1:55, $834,240). Jezzys Legacy was sent off at 9-2 and paid $11.00 to win.
Doherty Memorial champion The Ice Dutchess (Gingras) was in the second grouping, but she would make a break that took her out of contention on the first turn. With the logical choice out of the picture, Swizzle Sticks (Brian Sears) moved to the top beyond the 28 4/5 opening quarter and reach the half in 57 4/5 and the three-quarters in 1:28. Swizzle Sticks had a two-pronged attack to deal with through the lane, with Bushy Tails (David Miller) coming up the inside and Fate Smiled (Matt Kakaley) lunging from first-up, but Swizzle Sticks kept them both at bay, downing the former by half a length in 1:57 2/5.
Jim Campbell trains the victorious Muscle Hill filly for owner Jeff Snyder. Swizzle Sticks broke her maiden in her sixth chance, and she has now put away $60,738. Bred by Kaitlyn Meirs, Julie Meirs, Concord Stud Farm LLC., and Susan Berry, Swizzle Sticks was a $175,000 purchase at the Standardbred Horse Sale. She is out of the Andover Hall mare Sugar Cone, a full sister to Smooth Power (1:55 4/5, $123,790). Swizzle Sticks was dispatched at 6-1 and returned $14.80 to win.
