Pocono: The beat goes on for Highalator

The win streak for 3-year-old colt pacer Highalator now stands at eight after a 1:53 victory in a $16,000 non-winners of five races/$50,000 lifetime event on Sunday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Driven by Vic Kirby, Highalator was in the lead through panels of 26 4/5, 56 2/5, and 1:24 3/5, then used a 28 2/5 final quarter to seal the win by a length and a half over a rallying Spicebomb (Andrew McCarthy). War Daddy (Marcus Miller) finished third.
Highalator, a son of Somebeachsomewhere, is trained by Jenny Bier for co-owners/breeders Daryl Bier and Charles Dombeck. This was his ninth win from 11 starts overall, and he has earned $56,120. Highalator's dam, the stakes-winning Western Terror mare Higher And Higher, earned over $923,000 in her career, and Highalator was her first foal. Sent off at 1-5, Highalator returned $2.60 to win.
The colt is eligible to several high-profile stakes events the rest of the year, including the Meadowlands Pace and Breeders Crown.
